With nearly four decades of winners under its technicolour belt, the annual Dulux Colour Awards showcase the best of the best in Australian design – particularly those that have utilised colour in bold and exciting ways.

Out of a record 527 entries, 83 stunning projects have been selected as finalists – with two projects by Perth designers making the cut.

Unsurprisingly, one of those was the very lush Lawson Flats fitout. The exclusive members’ club, nominated in the Commercial Interior Public & Hospitality category, was designed by Ohlo Studio with Finespun Architecture and utilises decadent swathes of sumptuous terracotta hues and deep forest greens, paired with treasured ’70s and ’80s vintage furnishing finds.

Also utilising rich terracotta hues was the pared-back Claremont retail space of Rude To Stare intimates, designed by architecture and design firm State of Kin and a finalist in the Commercial Interior Workplace & Retail category.

The deep oxblood is offset by a delicate shade of lilac, complementing the soft colour palette of Rude To Stare’s lingerie, displayed on undulating railings and abstract forms.
