Perth’s niche of dessert joints has exploded over the last couple of years, accompanied by an influx of new and improved ice cream and gelato stores.

Gelato carts and pop-up vendors have evolved into regular fixtures in Perth, allowing for the people of our state to enjoy locally churned ice cream and gelato.

Here’s a bunch of the best ice cream and gelato spots around Perth:

Swan River Gelato

A recently new addition to the plethora of ice creameries in Fremantle, Swan River Gelato sets itself apart with decadent flavours made from scratch – the scratch being magnificent home grown produce. Boasting “no shortcuts, no preservatives. Just gelato made the right way” you’d be a fool to miss out on this one-of-a-kind, artisan spot next time you’re in Freo.

Cuccini Gelato

This minimalist gelateria has had heads turning since it opened – and for good reason. Flavour options range from ultra traditional (chocolate and pistachio) to sheer adventurous (avocado and lime sorbet). Cono Gelato

Cute as a button, the Cono Gelato cart has reached cult status amongst gelato lovers of Perth. Popping up at markets and events all over town, a peek under the pozzetti will reveal traditional Italian flavours like stracciatella, Amalfi-inspired ricotta dotted with amaretto crumb and infused with rosemary and lemon zest, or creamy, tangy mascarpone and coffee or classic Sicilian pistachio – but we also can’t help but be tempted by the more new-wave flavours, like a vegan Aperol spritz-inspired scoop, mango lassi spiced with cardamom or the decadent triple peanut crack.
