The best Nepalese restaurants around Perth

There’s been an explosion in the number of Nepalese restaurants around Perth, and we’re pretty darn stoked about it. Curries, momos, pulau? Count us in! Here are just a few of our favourites.

Little Magic Momo

When we talk about Nepalese food, we have to mention momos. Lucky for us, the delish dumpling is available across Perth these days, with Little Magic Momo serving up some of the best. Chicken, veg or buff, the dumplings are served with a tangy tomato pickle and homemade chilli sauce.

Tasty Mo:Mo

Another strong contender in the momo stakes has got to be Tasty Mo:Mo. This unassuming restaurant has a huge variety of the snacks on offer – not just steamed, but also pan fried, deep fried, or cooked in their tandoor. Add to that their array of fillings and sauces, and you’ll be opening your mind to all the momo possibilities in no time. Plus, of course, all of their delicious curries and the smokey offerings from the tandoor…

Chulo Nepalese Restaurant

Just down the road from Taste Mo:Mo, you’ll find another Nepalese gem: Chulo. Serving up quality Nepalese fare, from street food like sekuwa and momo, to dishes like pulau, slow cooked buffalo with sticky rice, or malpuwa pancakes. And of course, we can’t forget chow mein, beloved across Nepal.

Himali Ghurka

Himali Ghurka has been in it for the long haul, bringing authentic Nepalese flavours to Perth since 1995. Their commitment shows, with the small Applecross restaurant packed on plenty of weeknights. When we hear the words “12 hour”, followed by “lamb”… we’re sold pretty much straight away, but the scent of the spices and meats grilling on an open flame would probably help convince you. Or, if you’re struggling with FOMO – grab a thali and get a taste of everything, and wash it all down with a cold Nepal Ice while you’re at it.

Little Nepal Restaurant

Little Nepal is unassumingly set amongst the big box stores of Carrumbine. Zooming down Marmion Ave, if you blink you just might miss it. Luckily, we didn’t – and were rewarded with some Nepalese food that is little in name, but not in flavour. Like many Nepalese restaurants, it’s heavily influenced by Indian flavours, but also has its own distinctive dishes – like bhatmas sadeko or their special goat curry. Plus, there’s plenty of vegetarian options for anyone eating plant-based. Winner!

Bliss Momos

At first glance, Bliss Momos seems to be just a suburban cafe, tucked away in a Wellard shopping complex – but if you take a second look, you’ll realise it’s actually a Nepalese restaurant in disguise. While you can certainly get the standard brunch fare, we reckon the Nepalese dishes are really where it’s at. Momos and chow mein are just two of the classics on offer, of course – or enjoy the combo of live music and momos at one of their Friday night dinner services.

Himalayan Restaurant & Café

Across three locations, Himalayan Restaurant‘s extensive menu offers a range of hearty chicken, beef, lamb, goat, fish, prawn and vegetable dishes as well as some rocking entrees, sides and breads like lollipop chicken, samosas and cheese naan.
