Sweet or savoury, we’re all about pancakes, as long as they’re stacked sky high!

Here’s a selection of our favourite pancake purveyors in Perth.

Mary Street Bakery

Feeling worse for wear and bleary-eyed on a Sunday morning? It’s gotta be MSB fried chicken pancakes. This decadent plate of buttermilk pancakes, topped with fried chicken, peanuts, maple, chilli and a fried egg will cure what ails you. They kinda changed the game with these bad boys years ago, and there’s a reason they’ve never left the menu (or these lists) since!

The Little Banksia

Tucked away down a suburban street in Kensington, The Little Banksia is a delightful hidden gem. Any sweet teeth out there will surely be enticed by the buttermilk pancakes, paired with caramelised banana, blueberry gel, hazelnut chocolate, vanilla mascarpone, candied walnuts, sesame brittle and salted caramel. Savoury-lovers will have to try the kale and corn hotcakes, which go down a treat with smoked salmon, grilled haloumi, a poached egg and some citrus and dill sour cream.

Good Things

There are definitely plenty of good things to be had at Good Things cafe, and their hotcakes are up there with our faves. Nothing can beat going back to basics and that’s something Good Things has masters with their deliciously fluffy hotcakes topped with bruleed banana, maple and peanut butter mascarpone – an oldie but a goodie! Otherwise you can be a bit naughty and go the fried chicken or bacon option instead!

Elixir

Look, we can pretend to be as classy as we want, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to completely devour Elixir‘s Ferrero Rocher Cream Cheese pancakes – can you blame us? Two pancakes topped with Ferrero cream cheese, chocolate ganache, nut shards and crowned with a Ferrero Rocher is what dreams are made of.

Padbury’s

Take one look at Padbury’s famous meringue pancakes, and you’ll understand why they’ve become their signature dish. These very instagrammable pancakes are thiiiiiick, yet light and fluffy, and made even taller with a teetering crown of torched meringue and honeycomb. Lemon curd and candy is a zesty, citrusy addition, with granola providing some crunch.

Cafe Oranje

What’s better than a stack of pancakes? A whole basketful? Much-loved market favourite Cafe Oranje must have whipped up millions of poffertjes (mini Dutch pancakes, to the uninitiated) over the years – and we can’t get enough. These tiny, golden treats are traditionally served with lashings of delicious butter and a dusting of icing sugar, but you can also find Nutella, salted caramel and more sauces on offer.
