We can all use a big, hearty chuckle from time to time – and over the last year, we’ve definitely needed it more than ever. Luckily there are plenty of comedy nights all across Perth where you can have a knee-slapping good time…

Comedy Lounge

WA’s only purpose-built comedy venue, the Comedy Lounge has got to be our first port of call when we’re looking to have a laugh. The intimate space is in the middle of the action in the CBD – so it’s perfect for an after-work giggle or Saturday date night show. Can’t find a date? That’s okay – head along to their weekly Sunday Singles event, a hilarious and ice-breaking night for meeting new people and having a good laugh.

413 Murray street (Upstairs), Perth

Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den

Lazy’s has been serving up big laughs to the people of Perth since 2004, with a variety of comedy nights to tickle your fancy and your funny bone. They cut down their offerings to just one night for now, but we’ll soon be seeing the return of Shapiro Tuesdays – a night of comedic chaos and experimentation as both newbies and old dogs try out some of their more experimental routines. For the moment, you’ll have to make do with the hilarious Thursday night stalwart, the Big HOO-HAA! Completely improvised from audience suggestions, you really never know what’s going to happen next!

Rosemount Hotel, 459 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth

Oasis Comedy Club

As the former home of Lazy Susan’s, it was only natural that the upstairs room of the Brisbane Hotel be put to good comedic use again. Only just opening in June, Oasis has already been making waves, with local and interstate comedians selling out shows every weekend – so make sure you get your ticket in advance!

Brisbane Hotel (Upstairs), 292 Beaufort Street, Perth

Comedy Shack at the Sonar Room

An innocuous venue tucked away behind the silos of Little Creatures, Sonar Room is home to the Comedy Shack’s monthly night of laughs. The first Saturday of every month sees a bevy of local, national and (fingers crossed, one day) international comedians take to the stage to delight, amuse and shock us.

42 Mews Road (Upstairs), Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle

Fremantle Comedy Factory

Another favourite of the Freo comedy-loving crowd, Fremantle Comedy Factory is sorting out your Thursday nights. The weekly event showcases the best and brightest new talents, with just about anything possible and absolutely anyone welcome to take a punt on the mic themselves.

The Federal Hotel (Upstairs), 23 William Street, Fremantle

Laugh Department

With regular nights in Vic Park, Northbridge and Subi, Laugh Department are making sure that everybody’s able to get in on the laughs. With a fun mix of up-and-comers and established pros, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Corner Gallery, 263 Hay Street, Subiaco
The Craft Beer & Cider Garden, 124 James Street, Northbridge
Balmoral Hotel (Upstairs), 901 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park

Ugly Baby

Ugly Baby (formerly Canned Comedy) is combining belly laughs with doing good. Once a month, comedians get together to raise big laughs and big donations for FoodBank. Taking place over three nights and three venues, it’s like a monthly mini-festival you can feel good about.

NY Events

With all these comedy nights across Perth, you’d think just about everywhere was covered… but no! NY Events is passionate about making events accessible to everyone, no matter what part of Perth they’re based in. Determined to cover all that missed ground, they’ve got nights at the Herdy, the Carine and the Kala.

The Laugh Resort

Perth’s longest-running comedy night, the Laugh Resort hosts a changing lineup every week of Australia’s best comedy talents. As a not-for-profit organisation, these guys are all about supporting local comics, with all their profits going to the comedians featured in their shows and back into the comedy community.

Perth Comedy Festival

We can’t talk about comedy without mentioning the Perth Comedy Festival! Perth’s biggest annual comedy event, it sees legions of comedians descend on our city – as well as shining a spotlight on top local talent. Spanning venues across Perth, there’s something for everyone.
