One of Western Australia’s most stunning and unique holiday destinations, RAC Karri Valley Resort is located just 20 minutes out of Pemberton within the lush karri forests of Beedelup. It has a variety of accommodation options to choose from, including comfortable hotel-style rooms right on Lake Beedelup with uninterrupted views, forest and lake view chalets, complete with their own fireplace and an expansive, freshly redeveloped campground.

There’s plenty of awesome things to do within RAC Karri Valley Resort, along with the surrounding Southern Forest and Valleys Region, and here’s 10 that’ll have you BOOKING A TRIP and loading up the car in no time:

Climb one of Pemberton’s famous fire look out trees

Located inside the Warren National Park, the 75 metre tall Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree was pegged for climbing to celebrate Australia’s bicentenary in 1988 and holds the claim of being the tallest climbing tree in the world. There’s a lookout platform close to the top that can be reached by climbing 165 metal spokes hammered into the trunk. The Gloucester Tree is the slightly shorter sibling of the Dave Evan’s Bicentennial Tree, coming in at 58 meters in height and holding the title for the world’s second tallest fire-lookout tree.

Enjoy a lavish lakeside feast

RAC Karri Valley Resort’s Lakeside Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking stunning Lake Beedelup. Curl up next to the fireplace while you dine on fresh produce, wine and beer all local to the region. Enjoy some smoked trout fettuccine, or go all out with a scotch fillet and truffle potato, with the option of adding a fresh half marron. And don’t stress about the kids, the restaurant.

Wander the Beedelup Falls walk trail

Departing from RAC Karri Valley Resort, the Beedelup Falls walk trail takes you deep into Beedelup National Park where you’ll find the park’s spectacular waterfall. Walk through dense green karri forest before tackling the beautiful suspension bridge that hangs over the falls, which are in full flow during the winter and spring months.

Pop into the Animal Farm for some cuddles

RAC Karri Valley Resort has its own Animal Farm, open daily until 3pm (4pm during school holidays), kids of all ages are invited to meet a host of friendly farm friends. From bunnies and chickens to horses and even a pet pig, they’ll provide the pet food, your kids just have to provide the cuddles.

Enjoy a pinot at a Pemberton winery

Pemberton is an unheralded region for superlative wines, its unique growing conditions producing some stellar pinots and Bordeaux-style wines. As a result the area is flush with beautiful wineries, mostly erring on the smaller side so it’s always best to check ahead before popping in. For a comprehensive rundown head HERE, and remember to always make sure you’ve got a designated driver for the day!

Be a good sport on land…

When it comes to keeping active around RAC Karri Valley Resort, you’ve truly got no excuse for not getting out there. Outside of hiring bikes or hitting the volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, you can partake in some Archery daily from 11am, hit the 9-hole disc golf course, or a more traditional 18 holes of mini golf. Plus there’s a host of extra activities for the little ones over the school holidays… Like we said, no excuse!

…And in the water

The fun and activities aren’t just confined to land at RAC Karri Valley Resort, with its location right on Lake Beedelup perfect for plenty of water-based fun. There are canoes, row boats, pedal boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards all available for hire (weather permitting). Plus if you’re keen for a spot of fishing the lake is full of trout, and you can even hire rods and fishing equipment from the Resort.

Or test your skills in the Recreation Room

As part of RAC Karri Valley Resort’s campground upgrades last year, the Recreation Room got a fantastic update as well, providing the perfect hangout spot if the weather’s a bit too wild and wooly. There’s board games and TVs to relax in front of, or have some head to head battles on the ping pong and pool tables.

Bring – or hire – some bikes and hit some trails

Mountain biking has become a hugely popular sport in Western Australia, and if you want to get in on the action, the Pemberton Mountain Bike Park is a fun place to start. It has two short downhill runs that’ll get the blood pumping, along with an XC skills loop and dirt jumps nearby. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little less full on, RAC Karri Valley Resort has its own BMX track perfect for the kids to cruise around on.

Grab a quick ‘gram at Pemberton Pool

Finally, no trip to this region would be complete with a quick stopover at Pemberton Pool. This historic swimming pool was constructed in the 1920’s for the families of timber workers, and is surrounded by lush karri trees and nestled on the Lefroy Brook right in the centre of town.  It’s an incredibly scenic spot and perfect for a summertime swim (or earlier if you’re game).
