Now that we’ve turned the corner into sunshine season, it’s time to hit up some of our favourite beachside cafes.

Magic Apple

Magic Apple Wholefoods Cottesloe

Psychedelic vibes and mindful nourishment? Sign us up to all things Magic Apple Wholefoods, Cott’s newest beachfront eatery. Inspired by the health food chain ubiquitous across Perth in the ’70s, hit up Magic Apple for post-swim peak performance smoothies, nourishing bowls and the best view in Perth.

149 Marine Parade, Cottesloe

Staples Bagels

Staples Bagels South Fremantle

South Terrace just keeps getting more and more delicious! Following the arrival of Two Stacks to a cute-as-a-button row of shipping containers in South Freo, neighbouring Staples Bagels has also opened – bringing some insanely good bagels, excellent coffee and even some decadent cookies to the strip. After a cheeky visit last week, we’ll be returning to tick off the whole menu ASAP!

309c South Terrace, South Fremantle

Ol’ Buoy

Perth's best beachside cafes, Ol Buoy, Cottesloe

We couldn’t have been happier to hear about the return of Cott’s resident beachside pop-up Ol’ Buoy for a fourth blessed summer. Helmed by the crews from both Daisies and Some-day, these guys know how to sort you out with a post-swim coffee and snack. We can tell you from experience, the sausage and egg muffin goes down a real treat, especially if you’re too early for the epic fish burger.

99 Marine Parade, Cottesloe (Below Indiana Tea House), Cottesloe

The Little Bay

Perth's best beachside cafes, The Little Bay, Watermans Bay

The Little Bay really is pretty-as-a-picture. Whether you’re an aspiring influencer or simply want a good view with your brunch, The Little Bay’s layout and location is almost impossible to beat. While you can still get your big breakfast and eggs benny, the menu ups the ante with breakfast gnocchi, tiramisu pancakes and Turkish eggs… which would go really well with a Bloody Mary, just saying.

33 West Coast Drive, Watermans Bay

Livid Skate Cafe

Best Things To Do In Scarborough, Livid Skate Cafe

Keep the post-dip vibes going at Livid Skate Cafe, who have all the chill you could ask for. Very friendly staff will serve you up quick smart after a quick chat about what the swell’s doing, plus they make a mean wrap. If you’ve got a bit of time make sure you explore their rad little art gallery next door, and keep your ears to the ground for regular laneway parties that are jam-packed with good crew and great music.

Luna Maxi Mart Shopping Centre, 4A/6 Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough

C-Breez Kiosk

After a quick dip at Brighton Beach head to C-Breez for a coffee or something more substantial and you’ll fit right in with the rest of the locals. Given its proximity to the ocean it gets pretty busy, but that’s okay because you’re on Scarborough time – just pull up on the grass and enjoy the sun and salty air!

5 Brighton Road, Scarborough

Knead Bread & Coffee

Conveniently just next door to Livid, Knead knows bread better than most and have quickly become the go-to for organic sourdough goodness in the area. As you can probably guess they’ve got plenty of excellent pastry delights on offer (including your beloved cinni scrolls), and they’re no slouches in the coffee department.

Luna Maxi Mart Shopping Centre, 1A/6 Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough

Surfing Lizard

Back when we first added Surfing Lizard to this list, we warned that you might have to look beyond its not-quite-so Insta-friendly fitout… Well, since then they’ve just gone from strength to strength, still serving seaside brunch staples and Vietnamese specials, but now from two beachside locations: their OG spot in Coogee and a schmick Secret Harbour location that opened back in 2023.

20 Poore Grove, Coogee
11 Palermo Cove Secret Harbour

Little Sup

This cruisey hole in the wall coffee shop is a buzzing surfies spot. Little Sup is only a stone’s throw from North Cott beach, you can even pick up a surf or paddle board from Ocean Merchants while you’re there. We can practically taste the salty air just thinking about it.

3 Eric Street, Cottesloe

Third Wheel

Perth's best beachside cafes, Third Wheel, South Beach Fremantle

This super cute, very Freo cafe is like if your most chill friend opened up a cafe in their backyard. Attached to South Beach Cycles and only moments away from South Beach, Third Wheel’s verandah is the perfect spot to down one of their house-made nut milk lattes or one of their tofu sarnies.

408 South Terrace, South Fremantle

Little Loaf Lunch Bar

Yet another Hot Bread hot spot, Little Loaf is a lovely little spot for South Freo locals, slinging the classic North Street faves alongside some truly tempting just-for-Little-Loaf specials. While they were once a tiny hole-in-the-wall just for takeaways and kerbside perching, they’ve since expanded into the dining space next door – making it the perfect spot for cosy sit-down brunches as well.

2/390 South Terrace, South Fremantle

The Shorehouse

Perth's best beachside cafes, Shorehouse Swanbourne

When it comes to food, Nigella Lawson knows what she’s talking about. So when she Instagrammed her meal at The Shorehouse, it confirmed what we had already, in our hearts, known: that it was one of Perth’s best beachside eateries. While arguably more of a restaurant than a cafe, it’s still way high up on the list of where to get brunch with a spectacular ocean view.

278 Marine Parade, Swanbourne

Bib and Tucker

Of course, this one really goes without saying. Bib and Tucker is a heavyweight when it comes to beachside dining in Perth. There’s no better place to watch the sunset or treat yourself to the huevos rancheros or a cheeky breakfast martini.

18 Leighton Beach Boulevard, North Fremantle

Il Lido

Perth's best beachside cafes, Il Lido, Cottesloe

One of Perth’s best restaurants, period – this one’s gotta be at the high on the agenda for beachside eats. Right on Cott beach’s doorstep, Il Lido is a perfect place for a post swim coffee (using locally roasted Mano e Mano beans) or a rustic Italian feast with friends. With a view this good, they could afford to be a lot worse!

88 Marine Parade, Cottesloe

The Beach Bus

Perth's best beachside cafes, Beach Bus, Mosman Park

A super adorable solar-powered vintage caravan that parks up at Mosman Park dog beach, the Beach Bus ticks a helluva lot of boxes for us… Not only is it tantalisingly close to the water, not only are there dogs a-plenty to befriend, but their açai game is next level and their coffees damn hard to beat.

Palette

Perth's best steak sandwiches, Palette, North Fremantle, Steak Frites Sandwich

This North Freo gem may have only opened at the end of 2022, but it’s become the favourite for many a beach-going brunch-er. Dive into Palette’s menu of brunch staples (Turkish eggs, avo toast, a tempting porchetta benedict…) or grab a coffee for the road. If you’re there later in the day, we cannot stop thinking about their steak frites sandwich! Plus, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for any art you love on the walls – as their name would suggest, the cafe and restaurant doubles as a gallery space for emerging local artists.

Odyssea

Odyssea’s expansive wrap-around deck offers one of the best beach views you’re gonna get, anywhere, anytime. With a menu that’s appropriately seafood-y, and draws from various coastal cuisines (it’s a little bit Mediterranean, and a little bit Asian, with a few tortillas here and there), you’re set whether you’re grabbing a quick post swim coffee from the takeaway window or a sunset cocktail.

187 Challenger Parade, City Beach

Lot One

Open for breakfast and lunch, the Lot One kitchen may be small in size, but it’s big on flavour – as well as community spirit. With some high quality eating and drinking on offer, you can pop by for an afternoon spritz or a couple of zucchini and smoked salmon fritters, and soak up the friendly vibes.

46 Angove Drive, Hillarys

The Beach House

Perth's best beachside cafes, Beach House, Jindalee

Since opening in 2019, The Beach House in Jindalee has fast become a real destination venue. The unmatched views are matched by the leafy, coastal interior decor, a cruisey, beachy attitude and a Bloody Mary that’ll certainly wake you up in the morning.

100 Aurora Esplanade, Jindalee

Jaffelato

It doesn’t matter how old we get, we can always be seduced by the humble jaffle. As you might have guessed from the name, Jaffelato certainly has those on lock, serving up gourmet jaffles on the Rockingham foreshore. And while the jaffles are certainly restorative, they’re paired with some stellar Leftfield coffee to get you going.

3 Rockingham Beach Road, Rockingham

OSTRO Eatery

Just down the road from Jaffelato, (and just across the road from the beach) you’ll find OSTRO – for when a jaffle just won’t cut it. Their all day breakfast menu will get you fuelled up for whatever the day holds, with plenty of brunch classics on offer: think eggs bennies, big brekkies and more.
