As we continue marching forward as a society, more and more people are turning towards a meat free diet (better for the environment, not killing animals…that kinda thing). And the Perth foodie scene isn’t slouching behind when it comes to great vegetarian offerings around town – here’s a few of our faves.
Ten Acre Block
Ten Acre Block within Pan Pacific Perth has been running the plant-based game for a while now, and their new à la carte menu sounds absolutely divine! Already renowned for innovative, nutritionally curated and deliciously fresh dishes, the menu’s focus on sustainable, trusted, WA-grown ingredients is felt on the plate (and in your tummy). Little Beans Gourmet
You might have to mission it out to Canning Vale to experience Little Beans Gourmet, but we can assure it’s worth the trip. Specalising in Penang food, they completely cater to vegans and vegos, and do so with a smile. The portion sizes are great, there’s also plenty of gluten free options, and they even do a full vegetarian dim sum menu! Like we said, worth the drive.

With a mix of Chinese, Indonesian and Thai leanings, this fast and furious kitchen is banging out lively dishes suitable for a lively night out. While their menu is mixed, the variety and deliciousness of vegetarian options is second-to-none. The chilli candied peanuts and wok-tossed edamame will get you fired up to start, while the eggplant rendang (pictured), green papaya salad and mushroom fried rice are legit.

Situated on the corner of Beaufort Street and Vincent Street in Mount Lawley is Veggie Mama, a restaurant dedicated to serving up healthy, plant packed deliciousness. With warm, comforting options such as red Thai curry, sweet and sour tofu or roast butternut vegan gnocchi on offer, you are sure to leave with your tummy and taste buds satisfied. Veggie Mama also serves up a selection of fresh salads and crispy pastries each day, bursting with moreish flavours and healthy ingredients sure to please even non-vegetarians.

Govinda’s Food For Life
Govinda’s has been serving up delicious Indian vegetarian food for more than a decade now, with full course meals capped at around $10 and even cheaper for takeaway. Think huge servings of vegetarian curries with pappadums, daal… the works! As an added bonus you’ll always get incredibly friendly service with a smile, to go with all the goodness you’re putting inside you.

Overlooking the stunning Swan River in the CBD is Annalakshmi, a pay-as-you-feel Indian restaurant. Annalakshmi, founded in Perth in 1991, offers both a lunch and dinner buffet which is run by volunteers. Pile your plate high with wholesome Indian soup, rice and a selection of hearty vegan curries – don’t forget to try the spiced potato! You can either sit inside at the bustling communal tables, or on the benches outside to revel in the glory of our beautiful city.
Barrack Square Jetty 4, Riverside Dr, Perth
Nestled within a funky, compact shopfront along Walcott Street in Mount Lawley, Goreng Goreng serves up some of the freshest Asian food in Perth. Goreng Goreng provides affordable, quick and healthy meals without compromising on flavour, and you can also see the kitchen at work behind the counter (so you know its fresh!). While not exclusively a vegetarian restaurant, you can find meat free options including Make Your Own Noodles or Rice with tofu and your choice of sauce – you can’t go past the satay!

The Hummus Club
Ask anyone for the best vegetarian around Perth and there’s a 99% chance they’ll mention The Hummus Club. A true sensation since opening a few years ago, their menu is not only predominately vegetarian but gluten free too! Of course that wouldn’t be worth a damn unless their take on Middle Eastern cuisine was absolutely delicious – which it is. And make sure you leave room for desserts.

Formosa Vegetarian Eating House
For incredible prices matched only by intense flavours, venture out to Formosa Vegetarian Eating House in Kardinya. The menu is huge and the service fast (and friendly), it’s the place to take your meat-eating pals if they’re suspicious-yet-curious of how good vego and vegan food can be. Their soups and vegetarian sushi options are great.
17-23 South St, Kardinya
If you’re chasing absolute guilt free dining, then set your coordinates to Mother in Fremantle (formerly The Raw Kitchen). The whole menu is plant-based and seasonally-focused, with low waste and wholefood ingredients – even the wines are au naturel. Given its focus on sustainability the pricing is slightly higher than what you’d cop at your average Indian vego restaurant, but it’s more than covered by the superlative share plate offerings and overall goodness you’re putting into your body.
