Remember going to bowling alleys for your kid friends’ birthday parties back in the day?

Hot chips, lolly bags, arcade machines and of course, smelly shoes. Well these things all still exist around Perth, and now you can even knock back a couple of beers while you do it!

Ten Pin Bowling is an awesome indoor activity during the winter months, and here’s where to throw a few gutter balls around Perth:

Rosemount Bowl

The Friendliest Bowl In The West” is the perfect place for catch-up with mates, or even a sneaky first date. The retro theming, well-stocked bar, neon lights and old school rock’n’roll playlists make it one of Perth’s original and best bowling locales. The close proximity of the Rosemount Hotel across the road doesn’t hurt either…

464 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth

The Lookout Bar Bowling & Bites

Speaking beers and bowling, The Lookout in Scarborough has both of them in spades! Some may have laughed at the notion of converting the old Matisse Beach Club into a bar you can go bowling at, but it’s been a huge hit down on the Esplanade. With regular meal and bowling deals during the week, we recommend giving it a go then rather than dealing with the bustling weekend crowds.

148 The Esplanade, Scarborough

Strike Bowling

Their first location at Westfield Carousel had been a popular choice over the past couple of years with 10 modern bowling lanes, cocktail bar, gourmet kitchen, karaoke rooms, escape rooms, a laser tag arena and Holy Moly golf. And since then the Strike Bowling empire has expanded into a few spots around Perth, including Karrinyup, Fremantle and the CBD. At most spots you’ll find more than just bowling too, with mini golf, arcade games, bars and more to add to the fun.

Super Bowl

If you’re chasing a ten pin bowling experience more akin to the one we described at the beginning of this article, then may we enthusiastically suggest Super Bowl Melville and Warwick. Sitting perfectly between the retro stylings of Rosemount and the future fitout of Strike, Super Bowl have kept the chicken-salted hot chippies, awesome arcade games and ’80s/’90s décor you know and love. The blaring music video playlists are equally all old school charm, making it the perfect nostalgia-fuelled night of gutter balls and ten pin falls.

Zone Bowling

Zone Bowling is Australia’s largest ten pin bowling chain, so it’s safe to say they know their way around an alley or two. Since taking over from AMF they’ve updated three locations across Perth – Joondalup, Morley and Cannington. Their menu would make an American diner jealous, with hotdogs, pizzas, nachos, wings, loaded fries, burgers and more, so don’t eat beforehand!

176 Walter Road, Morley
Manning Road & Burton Street, Cannington
1/23 Franklin Lane, Joondalup
