It looks like Christmas is coming a day early for our pals in the south with the much-anticipated new neighbourhood bar Al Lupo opening its doors across the road from Leighton Beach tomorrow!

Brought to you by beloved WA hospo names Greg Leaver (Strange Company, Ronnie Nights) and Alex Brinis and Matt Power from MRKT Space, Al Lupo looks set to be the hottest ticket in town this summer.

With views of Leighton Beach from basically every corner, Al Lupo will be serving up a seductive slew of Italian staples both in their impressive wine selection and a seafood-heavy array of small plates courtesy of Head Chef Carlos Olivari.

The wine list boasts over 100 tantalising drops from near and far with some lo-fi options to boot, while lead bartender Lucky has relocated from Sydney to curate a special cocktail list perfect for some sun-drenched sundowners.

In some welcome news for the coeliac set, many of the dishes will either be gluten free or have a gluten free option, plus there’ll be a strong vegan presence throughout.

As mentioned seafood is high priority, with notable mentions including local scallops, perfectly cooked in chilli butter and served hot; fresh tiger prawns with homemade focaccia seasoned with mild aleppo pepper and salmon crudo with mandarin and nori.

If you’re not already sold, it just flat-out looks like a gorgeous place to hang out thanks to architect Michael Patroni’s handiwork, the big brain behind beautiful venues like Petition, Long Chim, Coogee Common and of course, Strange Company.

We’re talking stunning timber work, green marble-topped bars and recycled jarrah floorboards combine perfectly with in-house designed furniture and multi-textured tiling, a sunken lounge and a bar that’ll have ordering a margarita straight up.

Al Lupo opens tomorrow at 25 Leighton Beach Boulevard from 12pm, seven days a week.
