The beloved Basso Hotel on Old Perth Road will be getting a revamp for the remainder of 2021, with major renovations commencing this week courtesy of family-owned and operated hospitality group ARK (Market Grounds, Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub, Scarborough Beach Bar).

ARK General Manager Adam Kapinkoff said the hotel will be focusing on four key areas as it looks to re-open early 2022 – family, food, community and the rich history of Bassendean: “We’re excited to increase the pubs capacity to 750, provide a variety of spaces and experiences for guests to enjoy and pay homage to the history, stories and characters of the hotel over the past 90 years.”

Upon reopening the pub will be in the safe hands of Bassendean local Mark Patterson, who added, “Living in the area myself, I’m excited for the development to inject some life into Old Perth Road and we’re looking forward to delivering a pub everyone can enjoy.”

The redevelopment will also help spur activation and investment in Old Perth Road, with an eye towards helping guests socialise and relax over good food, local beers, cocktails and wine.

Further enhancing the family focus, a bespoke kids playground will be added along with new courtyards, beer gardens and a state-of-the-art sports bar.

Executive chef Matt Powell will be in charge food with a new large commercial kitchen at his fingertips, along with the addition of woodfired pizza ovens.

The relaunch hopes to be complete by early summer 2022.
