The best cafes around Leederville
Leederville’s had some ebbs and flows over the years, but we’re happy to say that it’s firmly reinstating itself as one of the best places to eat and drink in Perth.
Including some stellar cafés for your next brunch date or quick coffee pit stop.
Gather Bakehouse
Previously known as Syft Perth, you may have seen Gather Bakehouse’s picture-perfect, piped to perfection mini cakes on your feed since they first launched online in 2022. The arrival of their brick-and-mortar bakehouse earlier this year means you won’t have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy a slice of Gather’s signature cakes – they’ve got a daily selection of cakes by the slice on offer, alongside a range of indulgently chunky NYC-style cookies, decadent brownies and blondies… Not to mention their signature strawberry matcha that’s had everyone in a chokehold!

Babylon Café
Hidden away in a leafy nook in Leederville, Babylon is a rustic gem. Pick up a cult-favourite bagel, and settle in under an umbrella in the courtyard. One of our favourite dog-friendly cafés, the coffees are just as good as the friendly vibes.

Abacus Espresso
Since the completion of its redevelopment in 2021, Leederville’s Electric Lane precinct has become a bit of a mecca of all things delicious – and right at the centre of it is Abacus Espresso. It’s got a dreamy, Scandi-inspired, terracotta-y fit out and even better coffee, courtesy of a selection of local roasters including the excellent Double Double.
10 Electric Lane, Leederville
Cafe Nari
While Cafe Nari may only be teeny-tiny, the charming, family-run cafe is punching way above its weight with their selection of impressive pastries – including not just the viral “crookie” sensation or matcha strawberry croissants, but some limited edition savoury croissant creations that we’re itching to devour: think croissants stuffed with beef rendang benedict, pork belly banh mi or kimchi and gochujang pork.
2/226 Carr Place, Leederville
Queen of Leeds
Since opening in 2018, Queen of Leeds has been quietly amassing a fervent following. With great coffee (via Proud Mary and Loaded), excellent sammies and some next-level cake action, it’s no wonder – plus the friendly service that’s just as sweet.

Cafe L.A
Open now for just over a year, picture-perfect Cafe L.A is serving up a menu of Asian-inspired brunches (think shokupan brulée, soft shell crab baos, Korean fried chicken burgers) and a stunning lineup of iced drinks that have us yearning for summer days.

Oxford Yard
Oxford Yard, at least to us, harkens back to a time of cafes gone by – a time when you could still get a big brekkie! Don’t mistake that for old-fashioned or stale though: this Oxford Street café has stood the test of time with some delicious, crowd-pleasing plates – not just your classic big brekkie, but rotating specials like karaage and shokupan, New Orleans-style Eggs Cochon or hangover-busting burgers.
196 Oxford Street, Leederville
Kin Coffee
Opening at the end of September 2021, Kin Coffee has become a fast favourite. Specialty coffee is care of local roasters and verified coffee nerds Blacklist, while small plates and pastries take care of any hunger pangs – all in a delightful, light and bright setting.
Unit 8 and 9, 333 Oxford Street, Leederville
Nourish Kitchen & Cafe
We’d call Nourish a bit of a Leederville hidden gem – but anyone working nearby will be very familiar with their nourishing (the name is appropriate!) on-the-go lunches. As well as an array of nutritious salads and loaded rolls, we’re fans of the hot meal options, like the pan-fried dumplings, congee or Thai pork and rice.

Mister Focaccia
We’re all about a sandwich these days – and Mister Focaccia certainly knows they way around one! Specialising in (you guessed it) focaccia panini, loaded with your favourites in true southern Italian style… We’re talking burrata, pesto, mortadella, prosciutto, salami – you name it, they’ll make a panini out of it. Make sure to leave room for a taralli or two though, baked fresh and paired perfectly with an espresso.
