Whether you’re a local looking to find your new go-to, or you’re heading down for your first visit, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite spots to refuel on your next south west escape.
Yardbyrd
Long time Northbridge coffee-drinkers will recall their dismay upon hearing that Bookend and Little Willy’s proprietor Rob Mayberry was moving on from the beloved cafes. Luckily, he’s unleashed his magic touch in Margs with Yardbyrd. It’s got all of the quirky charm of the Northbridge cafes, amplified by its southwest locale – including a plant-filled courtyard and a cosy fireplace to warm you on those cold southern mornings.

Drift
If you’ve had breakfast in Margaret River, chances are – you’ve had breakfast at Drift. These guys take relaxed cafe vibes to the next level, executing brunch favourites with excellence (and excellent local produce, too!). Five Senses have got the beans on lock, plus ultra-creamy, ethical and sustainable Bannister Downs milk for the flat white lovers.

Wyl & Co
Wyl & Co. are serving up some of Margs’ best coffee, alongside the best vibes. Allpress provide the beans for a top brew, plus they’ve got plenty of breakfast options available, too – from classic bacon and egg rolls and avo on toast, homemade soups perfect for winter, and nourishing bowls. Not to mention, they’ve got a pretty cute aesthetic that’s hard to pass up.

Margaret River Bakery
Margaret River Bakery ticks all the boxes for somewhere you hope to find on your travels. Charming, unique, friendly – and most of all, high quality! It’s hard not to fall a little bit in love with this European-style bakery and its pink walls, hodge-podge of vintage furniture and hanging plants. If you weren’t sold already, they also do a killer selection of pastries and breakfast goodies, and of course a ripper coffee to go with it.
Egberts
If you can’t get enough of Margaret River Bakery’s charm, you’ll be glad to hear that they’ve also opened Egberts – sister store to the bakery, and in many ways its younger, smaller, slightly more refined iteration. You’ll find more of their Dutch-influenced baked treats (Oma’s apple tart, omg!), plus coffee courtesy of beans by Micrology and local roasting outfit Red Feather.

WEST Coffee Co.
WEST Coffee Co. is committed to looking after the planet while providing quality coffee, whether that’s through their range of beans or their super-cute espresso bar. They’ve got a few bits and pieces if you’re feeling hungry, but the star of the show really is the coffee – with those house beans and some of the silkiest milk you’ll come across.
Gourmet Food Merchant
Just to the north of Margs you’ll find Gourmet Food Merchant. These guys are the masters of everything southwest and delicious – whether it’s locally made chutneys and pickles, plant-based sauces by Hippie Veggies, or locally-grown organic black garlic from Black Garlic & Co., all the way to their specialty coffee. Made with beans from local roasters Margaret River Roasting Co., Bannister Downs milk (plus Milk Lab, Bonsoy and Oatly if that’s your speed), you can be assured the coffee with be up the same standards as their artisan produce.

White Elephant
You can hardly take a trip down south without stopping by a beachside cafe, can you? White Elephant‘s beachside views are second-to-none, and their coffee and breakfast offerings are just as appealing. Margaret River Roasting Co beans are on hand to get you pumped for your day, as well as locally made Shallows cold brew if the weather is heating up.
