Right in the heart of the CBD lies Perth’s cult-following ramen joint Nao. This popular Japanese restaurant is whipping up stretchy, fresh handmade noodles with choices of Red (Chili), Black (Squid Ink), Green (Spinach) or White options. The Spicy Ramen is highly recommended with that melt-in-your-mouth Chashu Pork.
HAKATA GENSUKE, East Vic Park
Ramen Master Kousuke Yoshimura has brought his signature Tonkotsu to Perth featuring Gensuke original pork broth served with homemade thin noodles, tender pork chashu, black fungus and spring onions. For those who like their soup rich and creamy, Hakata Gensuke over in Vic Park is the one.
DOSUKOI RAMEN, Fremantle

One of our favourite places to indulge in a warm bowl of ramen is hidden in the iconic Fremantle Markets. Give your phone number to the shop owner for a place in the queue and await a text message to let you know when your seat is ready. This tiny little shop is pumping out absolute quality slurpy goodness. P.S This place is cash only!
OCEANS KITAHASHIYA RAMEN & DONBURI BAR, Northbridge
Situated on Roe St in Northbridge, Oceans Kitahashiya has a variety of tasty ramen options with a broth base choice of soy, miso or salt. Be warned – their Spicy Ramen has three levels to it and level three is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
NOMSTAR RAMEN, Karawara
Expect thin noodles and an array of flavoursome pork bone broth choices. Add an extra kick with additional toppings like corn, Nori (seaweed), Menma (bamboo shoots) or Ajitama (flavoured soft boiled egg). Still hungry after you’re done slurping? Ask for Kaedama, an extra serving of noodles to be added to the leftover broth in your bowl. Right around the corner from Curtin University we’d expect all students to have made a visit here at least once!
KAI JAPANESE, Bull Creek

Kai is all about a homely signature Tonkotsu Ramen with thick wavy noodles delivering plenty of flavour with each slurp. We recommend the Karaage Chicken on the side. Well-priced and good quality Japanese – space is super limited so get down early!
OISHII RAMEN, Myaree

South of the river Perthians seem to have unlimited options for a bowl of ramen and Oishii delivers a promising – and damn big – bowl at that. Spicy Miso is the pick of the day amongst customers and we can vouch for their Udon too! They also just introduced thin Inaniwa Udon Noodles which are bang on.

Bang for ya buck with portion sizes as big as your head with the cheapest prices you’ll find
