Everyone loves a good, juicy burger, and plant-based variants have come a long way in the past few years, with options so tasty you’ll wonder why meat still even exists.

We’ve undertaken the supremely difficult and delicious task of trialing all of the most recommended vegan burgers in Perth and whittled it down to the vegan cream of the crop.

Seasonal Brewing Co

Inner city dwellers will no doubt be familiar with Seasonal Brewing Co, where doggos, punks, hipsters and toddlers can all find their happy place.

With multiple vegan staff members, they’ve worked hard to create a vegan menu that just happens to house a burger you’ll be dreaming of for weeks to come.

The Fried Mushroom Burger is the perfect combination of crispy, chewy and spicy mushroom bliss. It’s made with 4 different types of mushrooms (enoki, button, king oyster and baby king oyster), served up with slaw, pickles, lettuce and sriracha sauce on a glossy vegan brioche bun, perfected with a side of some of the best hot chippies in Perth. This baby will have your taste buds hanging out somewhere between clouds 8 and 10.

Pantano Bar

Have you ever wished for a vegan burger so big you might get a jaw ache from eating it? If you answered an enthusiastic “Yes!”, then Pantano should be next on your hit list – we promise the ache is worth it.

Coming in hot with two burgers so great we couldn’t just feature one of them, Pantano puts a creative South American spin on their dishes that will keep you coming back for more.

The Comeflor features crispy onion rings, a home-made black bean patty, vegan cheese, pickles, chipotle, beetroot, slaw and mayo on a toasted bun – heaven.

The El Vegano takes a more mediterranean twist, and technically doesn’t have a patty, but it’s on their burger menu and so good that we can’t help but include it. Stuffed full of pickled eggplant, lettuce, tomato, roasted capsicum, pickles, coleslaw, vegan cheese, relish, mayo and mustard, it’s a total party for your tastebuds.

As mentioned earlier, these burgers are so huge, you’ll definitely want to bring a friend – or pack a container for leftovers.

Lord of the Fries

If you’re keen to support a 100% vegan biz, then Lord of the Fries is your go-to. They humbly boast a fully vegan menu with no animal products used in their kitchen.

Our top pick is the Stinger Burger, which is a plant-based take on KFC’s Zinger Burger. Featuring spicy crumbed “chicken”, melted cheese, “bacon”, lettuce and spicy vegan mayo – it’s perfect for your crunchy cravings. Hot tip? Add a slice of pineapple to really ramp up the sweet ‘n salty vibes.

Located within 5 minutes walking distance of the CBD and open til 1:30am on weekends, it’s the perfect spot to satisfy your post-party, late night cravings.

Kookaburra Coffee

It’s time to jump in the car and head south – we’re goin’ to Mandurah!

While this one is a little out of the way, the irresistible Southern Style Jackfruit Schnitzel Burger at Kookaburra’s Coffee will have you happily refilling your petrol tank just to get another taste (and another… and another…). As an added bonus, it is also completely gluten free.

The star of the show, the vegan schnitzel, is lovingly handcrafted in-house via their top secret recipe, then served up with a Strange Grains Bakery sweet potato bun, vegan aioli, deluxe pickles, house-made slaw and a basket of chips – regular or sweet potato, your choice, with a dipping pot of aioli.

The result is one of the tastiest (and dare we say, pretty healthy?) burgers south of the equator, and we’d happily travel twice the distance to snap one up.

3Sheets on the Harbour

Hillary’s Boat Harbour is a Perth institution, perfect for a chill people-watchy day out, a swim, a spot of surfy shopping and – luckily for the plant-based peeps of Perth – an abundance of vegan options in recent years.

Taking out the title of best burger by the bay, is the Vegan Falafel Burger from 3Sheets Hillarys. The combination of a deliciously crispy falafel patty, dill pickles, red onion, hummus, tomato, rocket, vegan aioli, gluten-free bun and a generous serving of fries is truly drool-worthy. This one is a must try.

Finish your meal off with a stroll around the marina (and maybe a cheeky vegan icecream from Ben & Jerry’s).

F5 Coffee and Kitchen

Tucked away on a side street in Belmont and secretly brimming with vegan burgers and other delights, is the unassuming and laid-back F5 Coffee and Kitchen.

Their No Harm, No Fowl burger is the hero of the menu, with a super creative take on your standard vegan beef burger.

A Beyond Burger patty (a tasty regular in the vegan patty scene!), chipotle pulled bean curd and banana blossom, tempura enoki mushrooms, cheese, house made BBQ sauce, burger sauce and a vegan brioche bun all come together to create burger bliss in your mouth.

We’re calling it, this is the perfect weekend brunch, whether you’ve had a boozy night, or just need to fuel up for a big day of op shopping in Belmont.

They’ve also got a full vegan menu if you’re not feeling like a burger (we won’t judge), and we can say with authority that the loaded fries are out-of-this-world good.
