New-wave gelateria Chicho Gelato may have only opened their second store a few months ago, but it already feels like a part of the fabric of Freo.

Their latest limited edition offering will coincide with an iconic Fremantle tradition, the Blessing of the Fleet, and celebrate the Sicilian culture that helped shape the port city.

The vibrant procession is popular throughout many fishing villages and ports, welcoming the annual fishing season – the Fremantle iteration, the first of which took place in 1948, particularly owes its beginnings to Sicilian migrants from seaside towns Molfetta and Capo d’Orlando.

Joining forces with artisanal cannoleria Divine Cannoli until the end of October, Chicho will be serving up their own take on the classic ricotta cannoli. Custom cannoli shells will be filled with a new ricotta stracciatella gelato, served with maraschino cherries and a dusting of icing sugar.

You can get your hands on the gelato cannoli from this Saturday, October 22nd. The special will be available until the end of the month at Chicho’s Fremantle store only – 1 Cantonment Street, Fremantle.
