Hungry? A new 24-hour restaurant has just opened in Northbridge
Got a hankering for a midnight snack?
While you won’t hear a louder voice extolling the virtues of Perth’s wining and dining than ours, there’s still one thing that even we have to admit we’re lacking in: after hours eating options!
Although there’s been a few go-to spots holding down the after-midnight fort through the years (RIP Fast Eddy’s), we’re more than happy to welcome another (delicious) option into the fray: China Bar.
Opening at the end of June, we’re thrilled to report the James Street location is open 24 hours a day!
The Melbourne mainstay has been around on the east coast for nearly 30 years, opening its original location on the corner of Russell and Lonsdale Streets way back in 1996. Since then, they’ve opened another whopping 17 locations across Victoria, another in Darwin and two more stores in Perth – but this will be the first 24 hour location in WA, and only the third 24 hour location in Australia.
As we think is only appropriate to a late night joint, the China Bar menu is expansive.

Fancy some 2AM dim sum? They’ll sort you out quicker than you can say “har gow”.
7AM laksa? Say less! Laksa is just one of their many noodle soups on offer day and night.
4PM congee? Slurp it to your heart’s content, topped with anything from century egg and shredded chicken to seafood or beef.
Carnivores are well-supplied with a daily-roasted menu of char siu and crispy pork, soy sauce chicken and roast duck – but vegetarians also have a robust selection to choose from across the menu.
China Bar is located at Unit 7A, 109 James Street, Northbridge.
