Increasingly often, when we’re chatting with friends about recent restaurant experiences, one of the first questions (after “Was it delicious?”) is “How’s the vibe?”, followed closely by “What’s the fitout like?”.

A welI designed fitout can be the make-or-break ingredient that elevates a restaurant from “It was pretty good” to “You have to go!” – and East Fremantle-based architectural studio Rezen are the pros.

The studio is behind the lush fit outs of venues including Gibney, La Lune, Moana Hall and Vin Populi – and the latest edition of DesignFreo’s “On Location” will explore how Rezen thoughtfully transformed West End Italian institution Roma into Vin Populi’s stylish, very vibey space.

You’ll start with a glass of wine in Vin Populi’s new bar space next door, while enjoying a conversation with Rezen architects Rhys and Zenifa Bowring, along with restaurant owners Emma Ferguson and Dan Morris, chatting all things hospitality design. (And if it were us, we’d be booking a table to stay for dinner afterwards.)
