Elizabeth Quay Is Getting A Luxe New Cantonese Restaurant, Lantern
Set to open this winter, Lantern will be bringing a luxe take on Cantonese fare to Elizabeth Quay.
The sophisticated eatery will neighbour schmick Sydney steakhouse 6HEAD at brand new development One The Esplanade, with a sumptuous lantern-inspired 140-seat dining room that befits the meticulous approach from executive chef Ricky Kwok.
The chef has been on the pans at beloved Mounts Bay Road eatery Canton Bay, and will join forces with friends and hospitality entrepreneurs Surin Dhami and Karen Wong for the new venture.
“It’s always been on my mind that a really good Asian restaurant in Perth could have enormous impact,” says Dhami.

“We truly hope Lantern will earn the reputation of being the Flower Drum of the West.”
“With this level of design, and a full on bar with theatrical cocktails, and Chef Kwok’s food, there’s going to be nothing like it in Western Australia. As a management team we are giving the kitchen everything it needs to excel, no holds barred.”
This includes a menu that showcases WA’s most premium seafood – including lobster, abalone, scallops, crab and more, plus a spotlight on sustainably caught, highly prized Patagonian toothfish. From the land, you can expect to see WA wagyu featured prominently.
