Explore The ‘Burbs With Naut’s New Vibe

You could be forgiven for not associating Bibra Lake with fine dining – the suburb’s more known for lunch bars than à la carte. While there are hidden gems to be found (see: Bibra Lake Lunch Bar’s iconic banh mi, diving into a bowl of poutine at the Cockburn Ice Arena), the suburb’s dining options are fairly scarce – but Naut is here to change that.

The neighbourhood bar is unassumingly located within a strip of suburban shops – next door to a hairdresser and a pharmacy. Inside, though? An inviting space that’s one part chic Italian espresso bar and one part captain’s quarters.

Opening at the beginning of 2022, the team have spent the last year slowly building a legion of local fans with some crowd-pleasing fare – think burgers, wings and plenty of specials.

Naut is inspired by the spirit of exploration and adventure, though!

The small bar is dipping their toe into degustation, hosting their first degustation and wine pairing dinner last week. Instead of their normal American fare, the menu shifted towards oysters, scallops, chicken parfait and dry aged sirloin.

The eight-course dinner – featuring plenty of fine dining flourishes from chef and butcher Martin Morgan, and featuring South West wine pairings by Anthony Evans from the Wine Gang – marks a shift towards the finer things in life, while maintaining a connection to the local community. In fact, amongst the dozens of diners for their inaugural event, we were amongst only a few non-locals packed into the bar.
