Fun On A $50: 15 Things To Do Around The City That Cost Less Than A Pineapple
Over the last few years, we’ve seen more than enough of the inside of our living rooms, so we’ve been appreciating any opportunity to get out and about and enjoy the city. But just like everybody else, we’re not throwing any cash around willy-nilly. So how do you support local while keeping an eye on the budget?
This spring, an absolutely endless array of local businesses are teaming up with Destination Perth to offer heaps of fun for under $50! From romantic dinner dates to adventures through the city’s arcades and laneways, you’ll be able to explore all the nooks and crannies of the city without breaking the bank.
Who says you can’t enjoy champagne taste on a beer budget?
EAT & DRINK
The Flour Factory
This gin-lover’s paradise is giving us all the ginspiration we need. For just $50, you can dive into a delectable cheese board for two, plus you’ll be treated to two spins of The Flour Factory’s iconic numbered gin wheel – whatever number you get, you’ll be sipping on a delicious premium local or international gin concoction.
Caballitos
The Flour Factory’s slightly more down and dirty neighbour, Caballitos is here to show you a real good time. They’re already mayhem on weeknights with their Nacho Typical Thursdays (live tattooing and mariachi band included), but you can get your amigos together any day of the week for this tempting Tommy’s deal. Fifty bucks will get you two Tommy’s Margaritas and any two tacos – although where your night goes after that is up to you!
Hyatt Regency Perth
The team at Hyatt Regency Perth’s Cafe Restaurant are keeping things cosy for cool evenings, with a two course special menu that includes comforting mains like homemade ricotta gnocchi, Berkshire pork and sustainable barramundi – with a cheeky drink, of course! For dessert, you’ll be tempted by classics like signature sticky date pudding or apple crumble, all for a total of just $50 per person!
Julio’s Italian at Holiday Inn West Perth
Treat yourself to a delightful long lunch this week with a visit to Julio’s Italian. Attached to the Holiday Inn West Perth, you and your lunch date can watch the world go by on the alfresco or settle into the heritage dining room with a pizza, two Aperol spritzes and two cannoli for, you guessed it, $50! Delish!
Picaresque at Pan Pacific
Feeling restless for travel? Well, in the meantime you can enjoy a taste of Spain at Pan Pacific’s Pícaresque. The pop-up restaurant showcases flavours from destinations all over Spain, and you can enjoy a chef’s choice of tapas for two, plus two sangrias for just $50.
Shadow Wine Bar
One of our favourite spots to hit up in Northbridge for a romantic dinner, you can take Shadow’s seductive Italian appeal into daylight hours with their set lunch special, which will set you back just $50 a head.
Gusti Restaurant at Crowne Plaza Perth
Next door, Crowne Plaza Perth’s Gusti is hooking you up with the deals, with a Relax & Unwind package sure to do just that! Setting you back only $50, the package includes a bottle of sparkling and a tasting platter to nibble on as you enjoy the delightful views out over Langley Park. If you prefer, the Wine & Dine package includes a two course dinner and two glasses of wine – how’s that for date night?
Varnish on King
Descend into Varnish on King’s whiskey-soaked basement for a night of indulgence! This long-time favourite is serving up their own long-time favourites: for $50 you’ll be treated to a signature Varnish experience, with a mini bacon and whiskey or rosé flight, followed by bourbon wings – just make sure you also grab your iconic Varnish trucker as well.
Hadiqa
Spring has sprung at Hadiqa, and they’re celebrating with some picture-perfect cocktail specials suited to the sunshine! Their spring cocktail trays showcase a petite trio of the venue’s most popular tipples: the Hadiqa Swizzle, Hadiqa Spritz and of course, the one and only Turkish Delight Martini. Available before 7PM, you can grab a tray for $30 or bring a friend and enjoy two trays for $50.

Comedy Lounge
After you’ve wined and dined your date with one of those excellent deals, have a giggle or two at the Comedy Lounge’s brutal Gong Show!
