Back in May, we revealed the Pep’s team’s impressive Mosman Park expansion plans: adding a neighbourhood pizzeria and the takeover of Gill St. Deli to their roster of venues that also includes the lush Stuart St. Cellars…

Happily, we can now report that Gill St. Deli has officially (re)opened their doors!

“When the opportunity to takeover Gill St. Cafe was presented to us, the first thing we thought was ‘We said we were never doing another café,’” said owners Charlie and Tarsh Galbally, who previously owned Swanbourne cafés The Daily Espresso Bar and The Otherside.

That meant a shift away from a traditional café towards more of a corner store and providore.

“We wanted to bring it back to its roots, because it was originally a deli/corner store that opened way back in 1910,” explained Tarsh.

“To us, it is all about creating a community, a place to gather and get to know your neighbours,” added Charlie.

“The interest and support from locals and neighbours has been so encouraging. It made us realise that the corner deli store vibe has been missing and people thrive on a meeting place. Plus, who doesn’t want to start their day with a really good coffee in a beautiful area of Mosman Park?” Tarsh continued.

As well as café staples like fresh pastries, house-made sandwiches, cooked brekkies, smoothies, juices, salads and more, you’ll also find the shelves stocked with local products including Mossie Park honey and olive oil. The team also welcome local producers to get in touch if they have a product they think would fit in amongst the Gill St. shelves!

Currently open from 7AM ’til 4 everyday, they’ve also got plans to expand their offerings to include cheeses, deli meats and eventually take home dinners.

“We want to offer delicious, healthy and convenient meals for our local customers and regulars to make life easier for the busy families that live in the area,” Tarsh.

“Our businesses don’t exist without our community,” Charlie told us back in May.

“I think all of our businesses are within a kilometre of each other… It’s pretty rare to have that opportunity to start your day with somebody and finish your day with that same customer, and fill in the gaps in between.”

Gill St. Deli is located on the corner of Gill and Solomon Streets.
