Mt Hawthorn welcomes a relaxed new pizza joint just in time for summer – Il Falco
As if Mt Hawthorn’s bustling dining scene wasn’t already bursting at the seams, this week it welcomes a brand new player to the hood, Il Falco.
Headed up by hospo guru Jye Glaskin (Little Creatures, Quarter Acre, Ruinbar, Pretty Good Pizza), Il Falco will fashion itself on a pretty simple ethos: no fuss, relaxed vibes.
Oh, and the unrivalled pursuit of perfect wood-fired pizzas, of course.
“Mt Hawthorn continues to move from strength to strength, with so many solid venues already representing in its burgeoning food & wine scene,” says Glaskin, pictured below. “We are thrilled to be the new kid, adding to the wave of approachable venues that have become a weekly habit for local families.”
Focused on delivering fresh, authentic and thoughtfully-sourced local produce, Glaskin and his team bring a “healthy obssssion” in the search for Perth’s best pizza.
“Our 48 hour fermentation process for the pizza dough, in conjunction with the Marana Forni (basically the Rolls Royce of pizza ovens), ensures a consistent, delicious outcome…
“We believe a simple, quality offer with well-loved staples will keep locals coming back and get those further afield to make the effort to swing past for next-level pizza.”
Il Falco will be open for takeaways, walk-ins and bookings from Wednesday-Sunday, reactivating a run-down used car lot at 214 Scarborough Beach Road with industrial-style interiors, tables spilling into the converted car park with a bit of shaded greenery to keep it vibey.

“This particular pocket of the Mt Hawthorn strip has been a bit neglected and we are hoping Il Falco will add a pop of fun and character to this part of the neighbourhood,” says Glaskin.
In an effort to keep things easy on the takeaway front, you can only order online i.e. no phone orders, and 15-minute pick-up bays mean you can swing in and swing out with a nice toasty pizza in no time.
Il Falco’s family focus won’t come at the behest of good booze, with the opportunity for cheeky negroni or spritz in the, beer on tap, healthy wine list and importantly, BYO on Wednesdays and Sundays.
“The BYO inclusion is a really important aspect of what we are doing with Il Falco,” says Glaskin. “It keeps affordability at the forefront, and we love the casual, social nature it adds to the overall feel of the place.”
Il Falco is open now at 214 Scarborough Beach Road, Mt Hawthorn – check their menu here.
