Summer swims at the Basin are set to level up with a brand new pop-up from the team at Kuld Creamery set to officially open tomorrow, December 1!

With stores in Highgate and Fremantle, Kuld are known for their ever-changing menu of small-batch ice cream, often inspired by owners Mati and Kaitlyn Kuld’s Toronto home – best enjoyed in their freshly waffle cones or between their (very very excellent) homemade cookies.

(Seriously, try the white chocolate and brown butter cookie.)

The pop up will bring their freshly churned delights over to Rotto/Wadjemup over the summer, with not only their fan favourite flavours but some special Rottnest-inspired scoops – like the very aptly-named Quokka Traxx.

“We’ve always dreamt about how amazing it would be to have a Kuld location at Rotto and to see this come to fruition is really exciting,” Mati tells us.

“The Basin is a must-visit beach spot when you’re on the island, so being able to share our favourite ice cream flavours and baked goodies with Rottnest holidaymakers and day trippers, overlooking the pristine waters of this natural swimming pool is extremely special to us.”

In other exciting news, Kuld will also be expanding into another store – this time in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Northbridge, perched on the corner of William and Roe Street and set to open in December. As well as their signature North American flavours, the Northbridge store is set to offer an extended range of dessert options – so you’ll be able to get your hands on even more cookies, brownies and take-home pints.

“We’d been looking to open in Northbridge for a while, and when this location became available, we knew the space was perfect,” said Kaitlyn.

“The food, culture, art, and energy in Northbridge is fantastic, and we’re so excited to join the neighbourhood at a time where the city is going through a big transformation.”

Kuld Creamery’s Rottnest pop up is scheduled to run until April 2023. Keep an eye on their socials for updates on the new Northbridge store!
