A fancy French pastry is an exciting prospect any day of the week – but we’re going to be honest, the thought of going out and lining up in a busy patisserie is not always as enticing. What if you could be a fancy-pants, without having to even put on your pants?

Thanks to Chen-wei Wu (aka Robert), you can get your hands on some of Perth’s most delightful pastries – without even having to leave the house. Now that’s fancy!

The mastermind behind Lightning Puff, Wu moved to Perth in 2014 to study pastry, cutting his teeth at some of the city’s best bakeries. Falling in love with the simplicity of choux pastry, Lightning Puff was born – the charming translation of 閃電泡芙, the Taiwanese name for éclairs.

Creating a roster of monthly specials from his Tuart Hill home bakery, flavours vary from the traditional (dark chocolate, salted caramel and pecan, raspberry) to the more contemporary (mojito, spiced citrus, lemon meringue, blueberry ginger cheesecake).

French-Asian fusion bakeries have become more or less ubiquitous of late, but that doesn’t make us any less excited to see East and Southeast Asian flavours appear – think coconut pandan crunch and black sesame.

After jumping online to make your order, you can either have your éclairs delivered on the day of your choosing, or pop by for a pickup. Easy-peasy – afternoon teas have definitely levelled up!
