Since opening at the start of 2021, Local & Aesthetic has become one of our favourite spots for a brunch date. The team have just updated their menu for spring, keeping old favourites and adding some exciting new options – including some pretty tantalising booze options to keep brunch interesting!

True to its name, the café makes use of local and native ingredients in pretty-as-a-picture plates, creating a menu that is uniquely West Australian. Think numbat toast – their take on a Vegemite and cheese toastie – or house-cured salmon topped with whipped lemon myrtle feta.

On the drinks side, you can expect to see Beerfarm well represented, as well as a few natty wines and some cheeky breakfast cocktails: classic mimosas, an artisanal take on a Bloody Mary and breakfast martinis with a fair splash of Old Youngs, and a kole beer dark and stormy made with native spiced rum from Dongara’s Illegal Tender Rum Co.

The space is also home to a selection of artisanal makers, retailers and local artists – and even a sports masseuse! After a huge success last year, the crew is putting on another iteration of their Xmas Markets, showcasing heaps of WA talent. Mark your diaries for December 16 to 18, and drop them a line if you’re a local maker and want to get involved with a free stall.
