As much as Margaret River is celebrated for its spectacular wines, its brewery scene only goes from strength to strength.

And now those breweries have joined forces to help you get the best of craft beer and seasonal eats from Busselton down to Margaret River.

The South West Brewers Alliance (SWBA) is a collection of over 10 local South West Breweries who have come together to work on initiatives that strengthen the craft brewing industry as a whole, and they’ve lined up a couple of trails for you to conquer on your next down south trip.

Just last night they celebrated the launch of two new South West Beer Trails – the Bay Trail and Cave Trail.

The Cave Trail takes you through local farmland and towering karri trees between Wilyabrup and Margaret River for an introduction to the region’s inland charm, accompanied by dishes loaded with local produce.

Meanwhile the Bay Trail delivers a taste of coastal brews, as you cruise alongside scenic coastline between Busselton and Yallinyup for refreshing beers and tasty bites featuring plenty of farm-to-plate veg.

“Our South West craft brewers use premium ingredients from WA farmers to create a unique paddock to pint experience,” says SBWA Chair, Keith Warrick. “The beer trails put the craft beer destination marketing narrative on the map and showcase how truly diverse our region is.”

Each brewery in the region offers something a little different, but all share similar values around sustainability, community and collaboration, with every brewery on the trail working together under the SBWA – a non-profit initiative – since 2021.

Both trails include info on optional experiences like behind-the-scenes brewery tours, delicious dinners and live music.

The Brewery partners are Beerfarm, Bootleg, CBCo, Cowaramup Brewing Co, Cheeky Monkey, Eagle Bay Brewing Co, Margaret River Beer Co, Rocky Ridge Brewing Co, Shelter Brewing Co and Wild Hop Brewing Co – quite the lineup if you ask us.
