One of Perth’s most iconic pubs is up for sale!
In the market for a pub? Or want to own a piece of Perth history? Well one of Perth’s most famous pubs is currently up for sale and it is truly special.
The Guildford Hotel first opened its doors in 1885 and has since been loved by the people of Perth – but it is currently looking for new owners.
It sits on the corner of James and Johnston Street, Guildford, and the heritage-listed building is on 5300sqm.
The Guildford underwent a renovation in 2016 after a fire gutted the building in 2008 and left it laying idle for eight years.
That restoration has seen it returned to its former glory and it is now owned by developer Luke Martino and is leased to Australian Venue Co until 2042.
It just recently launched a whole new area next door, the Vaudeville Hall.
The building has hit the market through an offers campaign, led by CBRE Perth hotel capital markets director Ryan McGinnity, who said: “Those pubs that really present, like this, they’re few and far between, and when they hit the market, there’s a lot of interest in them.”

As well as the hotel, there are approvals in place for other retail tenancies, including a fresh food grocer.
“The development is finished, so to speak in terms of the pub, there is potential for someone else out the back, but they’ve just decided that it’s time to put it on the market,” Mr Ginnity added.
According to the Heritage Council of WA the pub was originally a ‘gold boom period’ hotel and is described by the council as “a fine example of Federation Free Classical architecture”.
For more than a century now, the hotel has been an important focus of social activity for Guildford and that is something that is set to continue – hopefully for another century.
The offers campaign to buy the Guildford Hotel closes September 12.
