The bustling community hub that is Queen Victoria Street in North Fremantle continues to flourish despite upcoming challenges as the Fremantle Traffic Bridge’s redevelopment gets underway.

While not expected to completely close until early next year, works have already begun with lane closures and detours in the area starting to impact local traffic, both by car and by foot.

Yet despite those looming challenges, the popular strip is in the midst of mini makeover, including some new kids on the block joining a host of local faves, with more to come!

Wild Bakery

In recent months the North Fremantle community have welcomed Wild Bakery and men’s clothing store Mad About The Boy, while the old Propeller site has been home to a cosy winter pop-up called Side Gate, ahead of a permanent reopening in the not-too-distant future.

Not to mention the vacant venue between Wild and Mrs Brown Bar being officially leased, along with the exciting news that the old Habitue restaurant has changed hands, opening in early October as modern Australian brasseries, The Bridge House.

Black Truffle has also recently undergone a renovation, reopening as a BYO woodfired pizza restaurant, while Old Bridge Cellars continues to stand tall as the area’s go-to for fine wines, artisan products and their popular Friday tastings.

“We are under no illusion that it’ll be tricky to get to us over the coming months, however with the amazing offerings in North Fremantle we know it’ll be business as usual on the strip,” says Old Bridge Cellars Proprietor, Jay Beeson.

“We have been liaising closely with the Fremantle Bridge Alliance and have plans in place to make things easier on our loyal customers including our subscription service, a fleet of delivery scooters and a strong pipeline of pop-up events to keep things as interesting as ever.”

Beeson encouraged people to pop down for a visit whenever they could over the next few months, with the above offerings joined by a host of perennial faves including Ooh Coofee, Flipside, Mojos, Piggy Food Co., Bruce Town, North Fremantle Pilates, Love + H, Guildhall Events Space and more.
