Ampersand Estates Is A Beautiful New Pemberton Winery & Distillery With Luxury Accomm On The Way

While Pemberton’s unique winery scene may have lost a beloved soldier earlier this year with the closure of Donnelly River Wines, a new player has entered the game with the rise of Ampersand Estates. A reimagining of the original Donnelly River Wines, Ampersand is located right along the Donnelly River, about half-an-hour from Pemberton amidst the gently rolling hills of the region.

And while Ampersand is now open as a Cellar Door for visitors to indulge in their already exciting selection of wines, it has much grander ambitions. Embracing the heritage of the region’s oldest winery, Ampersand will become a contemporary event and accommodation location in the southwest, offering an unparalleled backdrop for weddings and parties, flush with premium wine and bespoke spirits.

The name of the game when it comes to Ampersand wines is light and approachable, made to be enjoyed around – and paired with – picnics and barbecues with your nearest and dearest. The core range of varietals includes Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Riesling and Pinot Noir.

Ampersand Estates is also home to Australia’s only single harvest distillery, Rainfall Distillery, specialising in vodka and gin distilled in a single region and year – just like wines! Using local ingredients found in the region, Rainfall have already unveiled their first spirit vintage launched this month – comprising of three gins and three vodkas reflecting Pemberton and the Southern Forests.

Looking ahead, visitors will soon be able to purchase Gourmet Picnics with their bottle of Ampersand and enjoy a basket filled with fresh, seasonal produce, artisanal cheeses, bread, charcuterie and chocolates.

Later in 2022 Ampersand Estates will be home to a variety of luxury accommodation options (with bookings already open), including the two-bedroom, one bathroom Settlers Cottage; five-room, five-star luxury The Homestead; and elegant five-bedroom house, The Vintner’s Residence.

Ampersand is already taking bookings for weddings in 2022 as well, with two sites available to hire (The Old Barn and The Terrace) along with the onsite accommodation available for up to 24 guests.
