Perth’s best aperitivo hours
There’s nothing that merges Italian and Australian culture more neatly than aperitivo – and who wouldn’t be on board with a reasonably priced afternoon nibble and drink?
Get a taste of Italy right here in WA, with some of Perth’s best aperitivo hours:
Garum
An afternoon in Garum’s alfresco, amongst the heritage architecture and climbing vines – well, that’s nothing to sniff at. But add an aperitivo into the mix? We can hardly contain ourselves. Head to Hibernian Place between 4:30 and 6PM, Monday to Saturday for discounted drinks and bar snacks – including arancini, deep-fried mozzarella, salumi and pasta.
Hibernian Place, 480 Hay Street, Perth
Cosy Del’s
This summer, Lathlain favourite Cosy Del’s has upped the Italo-ante with a new aperitivo offering. From 5PM every Wednesday, soak up the late afternoon sun in the courtyard while enjoying a selection of freshly made pizzettas – paired, of course, with your choice of a cocktail, wine or beer. The best part of all? This combo will only set you back $20!
15 Lathlain Place, Lathlain
Bar Rogue
Le Rebelle’s culinarily-adventurous little sister, Bar Rogue’s Sunday aperitivo is the perfect way to wave farewell to the weekend. Sip your way through a selection of $8 aperitivo tipples and $2 snacks – think Old Bay crisps with sweet chilli Philly, duck croquettes with gravy or bresaola, piccalilli and bocconcini en croute.
515 Beaufort Street, Highgate
Small Print
Print Hall’s itty-bitty Euro wine bar Small Print turns aperitivo on its head with the aptly-named Aperivino. One part aperitivo, one part bottomless (kind of), Aperivino offers two glorious hours of charcuterie shares, dessert and your choice of a sommelier-recommended bottle of wine (per person!) – all for $89, every day from Wednesdays to Saturdays, 3PM ’til late!
Print Hall, 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth
Volare
While Volare is broadly inspired by the Italian tradition of aperitivo, on Tuesdays they take things to another level with wallet-friendly snacks like bombetta with pangrattato, seasonal cheeseboards and free Sicilian olives with every drink – not to mention a tantalising selection of sips, plus all wines by the bottle 20% off!
198 Whatley Crescent, Maylands
Spritz Spizzicheria
Is there any greater shrine to Perth’s favourite cocktail than the glowing, orange monument that is Spritz Spizzicheria? Their menu takes you from a long afternoon of cocktails and nibbles to more substantial pasta, pizza and mains – or take advantage of their aperitivo time: two hours of drinking and snacking specials (Italy’s best recent export?). We’re starting to think Mount Hawthorn is punching above its weight in culinary options.

La Madonna Nera
What was that we were saying about Mount Hawthorn? Having the misfortune of opening just before COVID hasn’t slowed La Madonna Nera down one bit, offering one of the most delightfully intimate dining experiences Perth has to offer. If you’re a fan of carefully curated, Italian-sourced wines then you’ll find plenty of friends at La Madonna Nera, and they’ll be happy to take you for a journey all over the boot-shaped peninsula – and some seriously good snacks perfect for afternoon aperitivo.
