Beer is big business, so it’s no wonder Perth has seen its fair share of top-shelf breweries pop up over the years.

And with craft beer becoming more popular than ever, we’re fortunate to have a raft of new brewhouses and pubs popping up in recent years to cater to beer lovers big and small. In typically well-researched fashion, here’s a slew of our favourite Perth breweries old, new, north and south:

Phat Brew Club

Good food, good drinking and good times? That’s a proposition that’s pretty hard to resist. Phat Brew Club brings all three in spades across its expansive 400-pax Clubroom and beer garden, which opened at the beginning of 2023. And it’s already become a fave of locals in the area, with a delicious core range of beers, some incredibly snackable food and a very welcome vibe.

City West, 102 Railway Street, West Perth

Gage Roads

It’s hard to compete with the big, beautiful Gage Roads brewhouse right on the water down in Fremantle. They weren’t content with just letting the venue do the talking, however, and it’s pretty quickly achieved icon status down that way thanks to their beers (duh), but also a stellar menu, welcoming vibe, a huge playground to keep the kids busy and just overall bloody vibes.

The Exchange Brewing Co.

The Exchange Brewing Co. is a bit of a jack-of-all trades within the West Leedy business hub – right across the road from Bad Love Burger Co., they’re a cafe that slings good coffee and breakfasts in the morning, before turning into a nice little lunch and dinner spot later in the day. As you may have guessed they’ve also got their own craft brewery on site with a few nice drops – it makes for a chill little beer spot after work.

Unit 4/32 Harrogate St, West Leederville

Blasta Brewing Company

Blasta Brewing Company in Burswood is open from 8am everyday (although we suggest you just nab a delicious Blasta Coffee at that time), and only a short walk from Burswood traino and Optus Stadium. With a huge beer hall, cruisy outdoor area and well-matched food, you can put some serious time in here over spring and summer. With regards to their beer selection, well “blasta” is Scottish for delicious, so go forth and taste young braveheart!

84-88 Goodwood Parade, Burswood

Bright Tank Brewing Co.

Bright Tank in East Perth is the brainchild of husband/wife team Mathew Moore and Gemma Sampson, who together with their brewers and chefs have crafted the perfect hangout space. With monthly Beergustations to guide you through their selection, Bright Tank is fast-becoming the place to be on Brown Street. Their Assalted Peach Gose is a favourite of ours, but they’re always coming out with a limited edition brew to get the taste buds buzzing.

 100 Brown Street, East Perth

Nowhereman Brewing Co.

Nestled amidst the getting cooler-by-the-day surrounds of West Leederville, Nowhereman Brewing has been getting it done since 2017. With four golden staples and a murderers’ row of exceptional limited releases, it’s more than worth the short walk from central Leederville. Some nifty pub meal deals on Tuesday and Wednesdays, and the world’s leas-shit pub trivia on Thursdays only sweeten the deal.

25 Harrogate Street, West Leederville

Otherside Brewing Co.

If you’ve been to a summer music festival the past couple of years there’s a good chance you’ve imbibed a tasty Otherside tinny. Since opening, the brewery has gone from strength to strength, bringing those music festival vibes every week – with tours and tunes on the weekends. They’ve also got a Brew Shed at their sister venue Freo.Social, offering up a plenty of new limited-edition flavours and good vibes as one of Perth’s best live music venues,

Running With Thieves

After a brief stint pivoting to producing hand sanitiser, November of 2020 saw Running With Thieves finally able to open, for real. As well as a micro-brewery, the space also contains a distillery producing both gin and vodka varieties, plus a retail outlet for you to take all those goodies home. Over the past couple of years they’ve really levelled up their food offering, and are comfortably one of our fave South Freo hangs on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Northbridge & Whitfords Brewing Co. by Beerland

Taking over the heart of Northbridge and Whitford City’s new food precinct, Northbridge Brewing Co. and Whitfords Brewing Co. bring pure pub vibes to both venues. They’ve crafted an epic selection to suite all tastes at both venues, and once you combine it with cruisy modern pub fare it’s just a choice of which you prefer: Northbridge people watching or Indian Ocean Views on the Whitfords Skydeck.

44 Lake Street, Northbridge
Westfield Whitford City, Hillarys

Waverley Brewhouse

Part of Westfield Carousel’s pretty epic upstairs food and drink precinct, Waverley Brewhouse more than holds its own on the nanobrewery front. Fresh, unpasteurised brews straight from tank to table are matched only by Waverley Brewhouse’s massive menu. A huge array of share plates, pizzas, burgers and other mains along with grill options… it’ll take you a while to work your way through, and probably a few belt notches too.

Seasonal Brewing Company

Seasonal Brewing Co. fills the hole in our heart we didn’t even know we had. Beer, sunshine, good food… if that’s not what Perth is about, I don’t know what is. Occupying a hundred-year-old building that was once a mechanic’s garage, Seasonal manages to balance the casual, neighbourhood spirit with a commitment to quality. Brewing on-site, the bar offers over 18 taps of craft beer, plus plenty of natural wine and spirits for those more inclined, while an aptly seasonal menu veers towards well-executed comfort and pub favourites.

175 Guildford Road, Maylands

The Generous Squire

This CBD staple has the full range of James Squire beers and ciders on tap to go with regular limited release drops. Open every day ’til late, Generous Squire has some cracking meal deals during the week, and also offer beer master classes for the budding microbrewers out there. They’re also very comfortably one of Perth’s best burger joints, doing ’em smashed and doing ’em damn well.

397 Murray Street, Perth

Still thirsty? Why not head out the Swan Valley where you’ll find more excellent breweries.
