Is there a sweeter treat in life than a damn good milkshake?

We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite milkshakes from around Perth for the next time you need a serious sugar hit.

Ribs Lane

Beaufort Street’s American BBQ game has just received a serious level-up with the opening of Ribs Lane from some east coast heavy-hitters. Combining American BBQ, Greek eats and French crepes, Ribs Lane can be found across the road from the Astor Theatre. And their mouthwatering selection of barbecued meats can be wonderfully washed down with one of their epic milkshakes.

Milky Lane

This relatively recent addition to Perth’s burger scene is also serving up delicious milky delights that will have your tastebuds thanking you – and begging for more. Opening their Perth doors in 2022, Milky Lane has quickly become a local staple and with loaded shake flavours like Bueno, Crunchy and Snickers.

Get Chunky

Perth’s best gourmet cookie store (not debatable) offers up more than just mouthwatering cookies and dough – impressive right? Get Chunky’s malted milkshakes will open your eyes to a whole new world of shakes. Frothing up popular malted choices like mocha, biscoff and oreo, you’d have to be a fool to not
order one to wash your delectable cookie down.

North Street Store

Our love affair with North Street Store continues. Is there anything these guys don’t knock outta the park?! Their milkshakes are no different, with killer limited edition flavours appearing for limited seasonal runs. Milo, Jaffa, dulce de leche… we’re dreaming of summer, but this will do in the meantime.

Varsity

Oh Varsity, how we love you. You may go to Varsity for the live sports and banging burgers, but you’ll leave bloated in milkshake heaven. Their famous classic and fancy milkshakes come in three imposing
sizes of 250ml, 500ml and 1 litre – and if you can smash a litre of shake alone, you’re the greatest who
ever was.

The Moon Cafe

If you’re going to get a milkshake, a diner definitely seems like an appropriate setting – and The Moon certainly is a classic. The Moon has been serving the late night revellers of Perth for nearly 30 years, and shows no signs of stopping. While their Doom shake is full-on chocolate mud cake goodness, we’re really quite partial to a straightforward malted thickshake. A classic shake for a classic setting.

Chicho Gelato

It stands to reason that if you love a gelateria, their milkshakes are probably gonna be pretty ace, too. That’s our approach to it, anyway – and Chicho doesn’t disappoint. This new-wave gelateria is creating some pretty iconic flavours out of their Northbridge store that are just as at home in a milkshake as they are in a cone. Whether it’s a classic vanilla or chocolate, or perhaps something a bit more experimental (hello, fig, mascarpone and balsamic!), it’s gonna be a winner.

Rise & Grind Espresso Bar

If a place serving up Pavlova Shakes doesn’t pique your interest, you’re not a true Australian. Serving up original shakes topped with a crazy amount of whipped cream and sprinkles, we’ll be impressed if you
have the stamina to finish one of these sugary, delicious treats.

225A Scarborough Beach Road, Doubleview

Pietro Gelateria

What’s that we were saying about favourite gelaterias? We’ve described Pietro in the past as being authentically Italian yet fantastically experimental, and we absolutely stand by that assessment. Checking out their recent limited edition gelato is a total whirlwind of flavour and milkshake potential – cinny buns, dragon fruit, brown sugar oat milk tea?! Can you tell we’re jazzed about it???? We’re honestly doing a bit of heavy breathing just thinking about the possibilities.

Café 2 Twenty-Four

Open every day to satiate Perth’s sweet tooth’s, Café 2 Twenty-Four is most definitely a spot to remember. You may have already spotted their mega choc honeycomb shake in all its Instagram glory –
an absolute monster of a drink. Good food, great vibes and spectacular milkshakes is this Belmont hotspot’s specialty.

224 Belmont Avenue, Cloverdale

Dumbo Gelato

We were just about to get our breathing under control, but then we remembered Dumbo Gelato, so here we are. With gelato flavours leaning heavily towards nostalgic Australiana, you know their milkshake game will be on point, too. And with heaps of vegan and gluten free options, you know even your most dietary-requirementy mates can get in on the action.

148 The Esplanade, Scarborough

Run Amuk

You’d think that making some of the best hot dogs in Perth was enough, but no – Run Amuk’s gotta lead the pack in milkshakes, too! As well as the classics (you know the drill: vanilla malt, chocolate, caramel, strawberry, spearmint or banana), these guys are also making a Reece’s peanut butter choc shake that is, in their words, “so thick you need a knife and fork”. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Whisk Creamery

Okay, so this one might be a little freaky. Whisk Creamery are churning some pretty dope ice cream from their Subiaco and Northbridge locations, so it makes sense that their milkshakes have to hold their own. The menu features shakes like the cronutella, and the matchatella; each topped with a homemade cronut and blended with some of their signature ice cream. Other epic flavours include banoffee, raspberry cheesecake or vanilla slice. Trust us, sometime you need a bit of excess in your life.

246 William Street, Northbridge

Meet & Bun

Look, we’re not saying we’d marry Meet & Bun’s extravagant Strawberry Shake – but we’d definitely take it on a date. Slinging tasty brioche burgers with love, this is the kind of place that begs you to come back because one taste just isn’t enough. If you’re not a strawberry fan, don’t worry because there’s plenty of flavourful shakes to go around.
