Popular Melbourne dumpling-slingers Shanghai Street are now open in Perth!
One of Melbourne Chinatown’s oldest restaurants has made its way across the Nullarbor, with Shanghai Street’s first Perth location opening over the weekend in the heart of Northbridge.
Taking over the James Street location formerly home to New Moon Dim Sum (RIP) and more recently Kobe Teppanyaki, the area is already a dumpling-lover’s delight – but when it comes to dumplings, we will always maintain that more is definitely the merrier.
Shanghai Street’s four existing east coast restaurants are known for their traditional take on the Shanghainese classic, xiao long bao, as well as their signature mini pan fried pork buns and Shanghai-style shao mai – dumplings with sticky rice.
If you’re hungry for more, you’ll also find their menu packed with plenty of other favourites, from cold marinated beef shank to crispy duck or whole chicken, clams in XO sauce or cumin-spiced lamb ribs. (Sweet tooths can indulge in white chocolate mochi, osmanthus cake and more!)
Shanghai Street is located at 63 James Street, Northbridge and is now open.
