Nothing gets our grapes going like young crew around Perth getting out there and doing IT – whether that’s new bars, events, stores…or today’s example, a brand new little wine company!

Something Wines is the brainchild of designer Natasja Reicheld, planner Jake Spiteri and event organiser Ben McDonald, who together decided they wanted to start a wine brand that brings a few of their favourite things together.

All three took a keen interest to learn about the beverage industry, along with a willingness to listen to those who know what they’re talking about, and found a gap in the market for a wine that serves a younger (over 18) audience that wasn’t corny or aggressively trying to sell to them.

And so Something Wines was born, “a wine for picnics, dancefloors, first dates, and doing some of your best work on your bedroom floor… It’s easy drinking, sharing, raving, and relaxing.”

Their first release is a collaboration with Margaret River winemaker Evan Haywood, two drops simply – and effectively – known as Something White and Something Red.

The bright stuff is an SB aged in older French oak barrels with lantana (floral) and honey dew melon (fruity) flavours, creating a refreshing feel in your mouth without overwhelming the palette – perfect with seafood.

The darker gear, a cab sav, comes from the Island Brook vineyard in northern Margaret River, with lifted aromas of red current, a well-integrated oak bounding from the glass and delicious raspberry notes.
