As far as WA icons go, it would not be wild suggest that Tony Galati, AKA WA’s Spud King, is up there with the best of ’em.

And now he’s looking to seal the salty deal with his own line of locally grown and made potato chips, unsurprisingly called, Spuddies.

“We grow some of the best potatoes in Australia and yet we haven’t had any chips made in WA for nearly a decade,” said Galati. “I’ve been working with potatoes most of my life, so making a potato chip here in WA was the obvious next step in making the most of my favourite veg.”

The chips will be available in 300gm packets and four flavours – original, barbeque, chicken and salt & vinegar.

As for where you’ll be able to purchase them, they’ll be available from this week in one of WA’s 17 Spudshed stores, retailing for $3.99.

And you know they’ll be fresh, coming from Galati Group’s Myalup potato production facility, using potatoes grown on Galati farms in Myalup, Lancelin and Manjimup.

“We have the best spuds, and now we have the best chips,” said the Spud King, and who are we to argue?
