While we try to keep on top of all the latest and greatest news in Perth’s eating and drinking, every now and then something slips under the radar – which would be a disappointment, except for what a delight it is to eventually discover a not-yet-hyped gem.

With that in mind, Mosman Park gained a charming new bottle shop way back in September – and while we’ve got to it late, the store makes a strong case for the “better late than never”.

Just off the bustling Stirling Highway and only moments away from Mossie Park station, Stuart St Cellars is from the same team as Pep’s Wine Bar – itself situated less than a kilometre down the highway.

Much like Pep’s, the bottle shop’s range leans Australian, although not strictly so, with a kind of footloose-and-fancy-free, interesting-but-easy drinking approach – with plenty of drops best enjoyed with soaking up beach sunsets or lazing on the lawn.

You’ll be able to taste plenty of these at Stuart St’s weekly Thursday Open Bottle, which they describe as “taste while you browse” – with a rather nifty discount, too.

“Walk in, have a taste, chat with Charlie and Alex. Maybe buy some wine.”

While certainly wine-focused, you’ll also find a selection of pre-batched cocktails (including from local outfits Idle Hands and Republic of Fremantle), plus a concise-but-growing collection of craft beer.

As well as expanding their beer range, the team plan on exentually adding a delivery service, as well as masterclass experiences with their sister venue Pep’s and neighbours In Between Bar.

Stuart St Cellars is located at 2A Stuart Street, Mosman Park.
