Maybe you’re looking to schmear at home, or for the perfect lunch spot – bagels will always fill the hole in your life.

And fortunately for Perth locals, there are a number of cafes and bakeries that have perfected the art of bagel-making. So, if you’re on the hunt for the best plain bagel to takeaway or the ultimate breaky bagel packed with all the trimmings, we’ve got you covered.

Get Ya Fix

Located on the top end of William Street, Get Ya Fix has been supplying us with our fix of fresh bagels and good coffee for around eight years now. Alongside classics like smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers, Get Ya Fix whips up top-notch veggie bagels and inverted bagels (for maximising deliciousness). We recommend taking your bagel and tasty Twin Peaks brew to-go so you can chow down beneath a shady tree in nearby Hyde Park. (Grace Flynn)

Mr. Sandwich

Forget the bland sandwiches of lunchboxes past and get to know delicious baguettes and perfect chewy bagels. Beloved by the city office crowd, Mr. Sandwich makes some of the best sangas in town. Expect bacon and egg rolls, homemade pastries and indulgent bagels filled with everything from smoked salmon and avocado to beef pastrami and coleslaw. Great for city-slickers, Mr. Sandwich has two locations in the CBD: one on St Georges and another on Hay Street. (Grace Flynn)

Bagel O’s

Bigger is better at Perth’s new favourite bagel joint, Bagel O’s. Garnering queues down Beaufort Street, this popular bagel haven bakes its o-shaped goodies daily and packs them to the brim with delicious fillings like dill schmear and house-made lox. Served alongside coffee from brew-masters Micrology, Bagel O’s is an absolute must if you’re bagel-obsessed like us. (Grace Flynn)

The Holy Bagel Co.

On any deep dive into the bagels of Perth, you’ll quickly discover that Holy Bagel Co. are the delicious, bready kingpins behind many of your favourite lunches. Supplying countless cafes around Perth with their signature bagels since 2014, Holy Bagel Co. also open up their Canning Vale bakery Tuesday to Saturday mornings so you can get your fix straight from the source. Kosher Providore

Tucked away behind the synagogue in Menora are some of the most legit bagels you’ll find in Perth. The family-run Kosher Providore’s onsite bakery pumps out traditional boiled bagels, as well as challah, babke, French loaves and other sweets. While you’re there, you can stock up at the kosher butcher or check out some of their imported pantry and freezer items. (Sally Hall)

Little Home Bakery

Little Home Bakery has been dishing out traditional German and European bread, pretzels, pastries and cakes since the 90s – as well as their classic sesame bagels. Available at a huge range of grocers throughout Perth, you can also head to their Morley bakehouse shop Tuesdays through Saturdays to stock up. Bonus points for having a gluten free option! Hylin

With so many tempting menu options at brunch favourite Hylin, it’s easy to look past the cabinet. But these bagels deserve a second glance. Another stockist of Holy Bagels, these will turn any morning around, even when you’ve woken up on the worst side of the bed – whether you choose their vego option, a brekkie bagel or their classic Reuben. Satchmo Cafe

We’ve already talked about our love of the Satchmo signature bagel, but here we are again. Stocking Holy Bagel Co. bagels, Satchmo takes these bagels to the next level. Their classic “Satchmo”, a Reuben-adjacent corned beef number is always a winner, but then again it’s hard to go past the Mississippi Special – southern fried chicken, slaw, served with a refreshing slice of watermelon. If you want something for later, pick up a few bagels to go with a tub of their house schmears, flavoured with Twin Peaks seasonal coffee blend, jalapeños or raspberry. (Sally Hall)

Bagels & Beans

Sometimes, it’s just obvious. Bagels. Coffee. What more could you want? When it comes to West Perth lunch spot Bagels & Beans, they’ve got all the bagel options you could dream of. Build your own bagel at their bagel bar, or choose one of their suggestions – ranging from traditional smoked salmon, salted beef or chicken caesar – to their many sweet and savoury schmears.
