Welcome to The Bridge House: a new era for a North Freo icon

Anyone interested in Perth’s eating and drinking over the past 20 years will be all-too-familiar with the charming little house at 1 Harvest Road, North Fremantle.

Until 2023, the 1925-built house was home to Habitué for almost nine years – prior to that, the beloved restaurant Harvest.

Later this month, the restaurant will transform into The Bridge House – renovated, revived and ready for a new era under new ownership.

The interior has been transformed into a warm and contemporary version of its former self, blending understated elegance with a casual lilt conducive to conviviality. Outside, the garden remains an enticing spot for a glass of wine or two under The Bridge House’s ochre walls and umbrellas.

“The Bridge House is going to be a warm, friendly, relaxed, welcoming restaurant where
customers are encouraged to take their time,” says restauranteur George Grundy, who is straying from a long-running career in business in order to fulfil his hospitality dreams.

“I want The Bridge House to be the kind of place people come to regularly, knowing they’ll be warmly welcomed every time.”

Heading up the kitchen will be chef Trent Dawson, previously at Nikola Estate and Hamilton Island Enterprises, and he’ll be bringing together a Modern Australian menu with a European lilt.

“There are about 40 things that contribute to a positive restaurant experience,” adds Grundy.

“The food is, of course, by far the most important, and in Trent Dawson I believe we have someone who can consistently produce delicious, perfectly cooked dishes. But what I think The Bridge House will consistently deliver is a friendly, relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, the kind of restaurant that you’d dream about having at the end of your street.”

“I can’t think of anything more exciting than the opportunity to bring new life to such a
beloved venue. I’ve lost count of the number of people who’ve stopped to talk and said how much they love the place and can’t wait to see it re-open.”

The Bridge House is located at 1 Harvest Road, North Fremantle, and is scheduled to open later this month.
