West Perth bottle shop Gangemi’s has transformed into Euro wine bar Boobook

Historic West Perth liquor store Gangemi’s, believed to have first opened in 1911 and be Perth’s oldest standalone bottle shop, has completed its transformation into Euro-style wine bar Boobook Bottles and Bar.

While you can still peruse the expansive bottle shop’s shelves for something special to take home – whether it’s a local chardy or a bougie Japanese whiskey – you can now also enjoy a glass or two in store, perched in the window watching the world go by.

Of course, no wine bar experience would be complete without a snack or two! The bar menu meanders through Europe, with Spanish classics like sardinas con tomate pan and jamon serrano, Italian favourites like local burrata by La Deliza Latticini and overflowing plates of mortadella, or decadent French cheeses served with Miller + Baker baguette.

While the bottle shop opens from 10:30AM during the week and 10AM on Saturdays, you’re sorted at all hours of the day thanks to Fornever’s coffee window. Set amongst the iconic Brolga mural on the store’s Outram Street wall, the window is open from 7AM ’til 1PM every weekday to keep you caffeinated.
