Opening this weekend: Japanese-inspired late night lounge Zypher
This weekend, we’ll be welcoming Zypher to the CBD’s west end: a new late night lounge that takes its inspiration from modern Japanese izakaya.
A transformation of the former Prohibition-inspired hidden jazz bar Volstead Lounge, Zypher will take you from drinking and dining into late night revelry – all under one roof, hidden down a city laneway.
“We wanted to bring something truly unique to Perth, when we look at other cities, we see venues that offer everything in one place: great food, amazing drinks, and a vibe that keeps you coming back” explained Zypher co-owner Elise Fotheringhame.
“With Zypher Lounge, we’ve created that space for Perth, where you can start your night with exceptional dining and end it with an unforgettable party.” added co-owner Cathie Horvat.

Get the party started with Zypher’s selection of sake, or the cocktail menu inspired by Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife – think yuzu spritzes, Sake Bombs and the Zypher Martini.
Raised in Seoul and with seven years under his belt at Nobu Perth and five years at his own Northbridge izakaya, chef Evan Bang’s Japanese fusion menu will delight both late-night snackers and more indulgent diners – from drink-friendly crispy tempura, kushiyaki skewers or a wagyu carpaccio “pizza”, to fresh sashimi platters, zesty oysters and premium A5 wagyu striploin. Late night hunger pangs are sorted with the kitchen staying open to closing time – so you can skip the late night most-party Maccas run.
The lounge will be open from Wednesday to Saturday – with Friday and Saturday nights featuring live entertainment before the DJs hit the decks from 9PM.
Zypher Lounge will officially open on Saturday, December 14, and will be located at 414 Murray Street, Perth.
