Government House Western Australia’s annual poppy display has just opened up to the public, with extended viewing hours in the lead-up to ANZAC Day (Thursday 25 April).

The spectacular arrangement is a tribute to the lives lost during World War I, with RSLWA volunteers “planting” over 40,000 handcrafted, crocheted poppies.

Among the poppies visitors will also find purple crocheted poppies representing animals lost at war, along with sprigs of rosemary, the symbol of ANZAC Day.

The display opened on Monday, and Government House’s extended opening hours are as follows:

Wednesday 10 April, 11am-2pm
Thursday 11 April, 11am-2pm
Friday 12 April, closed for open day preparations
Saturday 13 April, 10am-3pm (Government House Open Day)
Sunday 14 April, 10am-3pm (Government House Open Day)
Monday 15 April, closed

Wednesday 17 April, 11am-2pm
