The Fremantle’s beloved 10 Nights in Port festival has confirmed its 2024 program, and it will once again champion West Australian artists and warm up Freo streets in the middle of winter.

Over 15 mysterious installations, exhibitions and performances will take place next month from August 15-25, at different venues across Fremantle.

Festival-goers will be able to expand their horizons through exposure to new people and perspectives at the festival, which continues its ethos of bringing together subcultures and communities of WA.

One of the festival debuts will be participatory ceramic project and exhibition called Cracked, led by First Nations ceramicist Alfred Lowe.

Featuring an illuminated trail of community fires, visitors can expect breath-taking fire sculptures becoming a centrepiece at the Fremantle Arts Centre.

There will also be a return of a 10 Nights in Port festival favourite, Neighbourhood Saunas (pictured above), hosting Sweat, Soak, Release which will feature a program of sacred ceremonial sauna rituals.

Manager of Arts at the festival, Sarah Wilkinson said the program for this year will truly depict Fremantle’s vibrant community spirit.

“10 Nights in Port celebrates the people of Fremantle; it invites audiences to brace the outdoors in the height of winter and explore new perspectives,” she said.

“Community connection is at the heart of this festival; the program wants to engage festival goers through immersive art experiences that enlighten and enrich perspectives through the melting pot of cultures that exist within our local community.”

The festival will take place across more than 10 community spaces throughout Walyalup/Fremantle, and you will be able to find both free-to-attend and paid performances.

“With over 15 events for all ages speckled throughout Fremantle’s iconic sites, we’re encouraging everyone to head into Walyalup/Fremantle to explore in search of something mysterious and wonderful — all you need is jacket and an adventurous spirit,” added Ms Wilkinson.

Ticketed events will go on sale from Thursday 18 July via the festival website – check out the full program and grabs yours at 10nightsinport.com.au.
