Sure it was a bummer that the Perth Royal Show had to be cancelled this year, but relatively speaking things could be a lot worse.

And it’s also meant the rise of a heap of new events and activities to keep the kids tuckered out for the next couple of weeks.

Awesome Arts Festival

The AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things is back across a few spaces in the Perth CBD, showcasing an engaging array of theatre, dance, kids activities, music, film, literature, visual arts and more.

Groundswell Festival

The Drug Aware Groundswell Festival shakkas back into Scarborough for its 7th instalment on October 3 and 4.

It’s an action-packed, free weekend featuring surfing, skating, basketball comps, BMX stunt demos, DJs, street art, food trucks markets and heaps more.

School’s Out Fest

Probably the closest thing you’ll find to the Royal Show is the huge School’s Out Fest, taking over Elizabeth Quay and Yagan Square for two weeks.

There’ll be family amusement rides, maze challenges, dinosaur discoveries and even a mini sideshow alley to satisfy those showbag cravings!

Dianella Tree Trail

The City Of Stirling has launched a pretty awesome new idea, a Tree Trail.

During the holidays the trees of Dianella Regional Open Space will share stories across a 1.9km self-guided trail that’ll take about an hour-and-a-half to complete.

Adventure World

Perth’s biggest theme park is back open for business from September 26, and cheaper early bird season passes are on offer until October 12.

Outback Splash

Outback Splash in Bullsbrook’s waterslides are back open just in time for the School Holidays, but there’s plenty else to do as well.

There’s timber, hedge and tractor tyre mazes, mini golf, children’s playgrounds, koalas, wombats, kangaroos and more that’ll keep you and the kids busy all day long.

Zone Bowling

Zone Bowling’s popular Mega Fun Zone and Mini Fun Passes are back, offering discounted rates on a heap of fun across their four locations.

Surf Lessons

When the weather stars to warm up in Perth, the winter swells start to get a lot smaller.

While this is bad news for experienced surfers, it means it’s the perfect time to begin your kids’ learning-to-surf journey!

School Holidays Fishing Program

If you think fishing is more your kids’ vibe, The Fishing School will be hosting special school holiday fishing programs at Point Walter and Mindarie Marina.

They’ll get a nice, easy-to-learn run through on conservation, knot tying, rig building, casting, baiting and more.

Take A Hike

Perth is filled with fantastic walking and hiking trails, both in the city and just out of it.
