One of the many things we took for granted that were suddenly taken away when the pandemic hit was going to the movies.

The smell of popcorn, sipping on pre-mix coke and crunching down on choc tops all gone in the blink of an eye.

Now, as Western Australia continues lifting many of the restrictions that helped flatten the curve to great effect, cinemas are back baby!

Many of the larger chains have been open for a minute, and tomorrow (Thursday 2 July) sees local indie cinema fave Luna Palace Cinemas opening their doors with a fresh slate of films.

In line with COVID-19 safety protocols, they’ll be operating with reduced capacities and spaced session times to allow regular cleaning.

Below is a list of movies opening across Luna Leederville, Luna On SX (Freo) and Windsor Cinema (Nedlands) this week, and you can head here to find out what’s coming up in the next few weeks/months.

The Assistant

Julia Garner (awesome in Ozark) stars as Jane, a junior assistant to a big time entertainment exec in a #MeToo story very much inspired by Harvey Weinstein.
