OMG! This 10m ‘mythical creature’ (and others) is headed to Kwinana this November

Kwinana’s OMG! Festival is growing into monstrous new territories in 2024 with its expansion into a a multi-day, multi-venue celebration of light, art, and culture over two weekends this November.

The festival will transform streets and open spaces into an immersive, vibrant spectacle for families and the entire community to enjoy on November 8-9 and November 16.

“With the OMG! Festival expanding, it’s a perfect opportunity for the community to come together, engage with exciting performances, and celebrate local culture,” said City of Kwinana Mayor Peter Feasey.

“The festival’s new format promises captivating light-themed entertainment for all ages, transforming Kwinana’s streets and open spaces into hubs of creativity and fun.”

The festival kicks off with Get in the Grove (6-9pm on November 8 and 9) at The Grove, nestled between the City of Kwinana Administration Building and Koorliny Arts Centre, where the space will transform with festoon lighting, outdoor furniture, food trucks, a pop-up bar and live entertainment.

The centrepiece of the nights will be the appearance of The Guardian, a towering 10-metre mythical creature adorned with glowing crystal shards, along with an enchanting performance of five larger-than-life flamingo puppets, LED acrobatic performers and stilt-walkers.

The following weekend the fun heads to the Wellard Street Festival, celebrating 10 years of Wellard Square on November 16 from 6-9pm with interactive light installations designed by Lux Events, LED acrobats and an LED hula-hoop workshop.

There’ll also be live street performances from Ricochet Circus, a Circus Game Show, market stalls, food trucks, silent disco, DJs and more.
