Where better to stage the dramatic tale of passion than WA’s own iconic WACA Ground? The setting for decades of triumphs, defeats and epic conflicts, the historic arena will come alive with over 150 singers and musicians performing the opera over two thrilling performances.

The West Australian Opera Chorus, their Children’s Chorus, and the formidable presence of the entire West Australian Symphony Orchestra will all feature over two spectacular nights in February.

‘Carmen’ is a tale of love, betrayal, jealousy and the search for freedom, and will star some of our most esteemed local operatic stars, with mezzo soprano Ashlyn Tymms in the titular role alongside co-stars José Carbó and Paul O’Neill.

Even if you don’t consider yourself an opera connoisseur, you’ll find yourself humming along to Habanera, or Toreador Song: two arias that have become some of the most well known throughout operatic history.
