It’s that time of the year where WA’s best and brightest emerging art talents from the Western Australian Academy Of Performing Arts (WAPPA) get to ply their wares on Perth’s biggest stage, His Majesty’s Theatre.

And this year the much-anticipated “mid-year musical” is their take on the broadway hit ‘Mack & Mabel’, an enthralling celebration of silent era Hollywood with heroes, villains, starlets and moguls.

‘Mack & Mabel’ follows up from last year’s massive, sold out season of ‘Crazy For You’ (pictured below) and brings with it the same creative team of all-singing, all-dancing, triple-threat performers, backed by a spectacular live 30-piece orchestra.

Audiences can expect extravagant set designs and costumes as the huge cast of 40 as they tell a tale set in the early years of Hollywood, charting the stormy love story of silent film director Mack Sennett and his star, Mabel Normand.

This will be WAAPA’s largest production of the year, brought to vibrant life thanks to Director Crispin Taylor, Musical Director Tim Cunniffe and Choreographer Jayne Smeulders, along with of course a massive ensemble of up-and-coming stage stars and crew of Production & Design students.

You can catch ‘Mack & Mabel’ for a limited time only, taking over the ‘Maj from Friday 10 until Thursday 16 June at 7.30pm, with matinees on Saturday 11 and Wednesday 15 June at 2pm.
