MORE INFO

After almost 20 years, this national event returns to Western Australia over two days in August 2022 on the iconic Avon River situated in the Perth hills. Come and watch Australia’s best Wild Water Paddlers battle it out on the rapids for the top title on the Avon. This fast and dynamic racing delivers a great spectator event.

Day 1: Saturday, 6th August
Location: Posselts Ford, Cobblers Pool Road, Toodyay
The 2022 PA Canoe Wild Water Championships will begin on Saturday with two classic events; consisting of an individual and a team race; of approximately 6km in length and a duration of up to 60 minutes. Scheduled for the upper Avon Valley in WA’s peak wild water conditions, athletes must manage their unstable downriver kayaks on a course which ranges from flat water up to that of grade 4 rapids.

Day 2: Sunday, 7th August
Location: Bells Rapids, Baskerville
Racing continues Sunday with the individual sprint event in the morning and the exciting teams’ event in the afternoon at the iconic Bells Rapids.
Sprint courses can range from 200-600m in length and last as short as 60 seconds. Paddlers require peak fitness to battle the river obstacles, lactic acid, competitors and themselves if they want to be the fastest over the course. The result of physical conditioning is skill and harmony with the water.
