A Resting Mess at 10 Nights In Port
A CHAOTIC, DEEP-FEELING, DEEP-CARING ADVENTURE.
Pull up a cushion for A Resting Mess, an immersive, live dance performance that explores human and planetary fatigue. Over a wild and warm-hearted 75 minutes dancers navigate a landscape of literal mess: they’re busy and ready to clean up. However, if someone trips and falls into a beanbag, perhaps they’ll just stay there for a while. After all, fixing the world is hard work and requires moments of rest.
Soft, serene, riotous and wild: the performance scales the gamut of emotion and energy as supported by whisper-quiet soundscapes, ethereal saxophone chants and moments of wild percussion as created by Josten Myburgh and Felicity Groom.
Open Sessions
Outside of ticketed evening performances, the installation exists as a free community reflection space where audiences can experience the heart of the show by joining the performers for sessions of rest. Power napping is welcome.
